Tasted by Macman77 on 5/6/2024 & rated 89 points: Typical nose with charc, black pepper, blue fruits, herbs and violet
Still pronounced dry tannins, tar, charc, meat and violet in the finish.
Still a young appearance so I will keep the last bottle 😊 (300 views)
Tasted by lucnapo@gmail.com on 12/31/2023: Bon vin, belle couleur et longeur (657 views)
Tasted by Anna@WineCellar on 4/23/2023 & rated 90 points: Red, high intensity. Developed, medium(-) nose. Restrained charcuterie, dried herbs, some complexity. On the palate dry, medium(+) acidity, high level of well grained tannins, full bodied, 13%. Flavours with blue fruit, dried herbs, some charcuterie. Juicy. Very, very good length with sandy afterfeel. Superb. And even a step up day two. (1116 views)
Tasted by Anna@WineCellar on 4/12/2023 & rated 90 points: Red with beginning brownish brim, medium intensity. Developed, medium intensity nose. Charcuteries, smoke. On the palate dry, medium(+) acidity, medium(+) fine grained tannins, medium body. 13%. Spicy, meaty flavours. Medium(+) length. Very typical.
Day 2: Intensity. Tannins as grains of sand all over the palate. Very long.
Day 4: Mature, dried rich blue fruit. Still very nice. (1074 views)
Tasted by lambomiura on 3/11/2023 & rated 96 points: Exceptionnel Crozes a son optimum .
Quel vin! (1191 views)
Tasted by THECORKDORK on 12/20/2022 & rated 95 points: On fire right now. One of the best relatively young Graillot vintages I've tasted. Purple nicoise olives, black pepper, dried savory herbs. (1337 views)
Tasted by Samaul on 10/14/2022 & rated 87 points: Mörk röd

Mörka bär, lakrits, örter, lite viol

Mörka bär, avrundad, viol, lakrits, fina tanniner. (1346 views)
Tasted by lambomiura on 1/22/2022 & rated 92 points: Nez intense, poivre, épices, violette, cerises, mûres , bonbon anglais , cuir, tabac, long et intense , encore une bonne acidité . A son mieux 2,5 hres après carafage. À racheter! (1684 views)
Tasted by MLipton on 10/28/2021: Classic Syrah profile. The acidity is high, making it a good food wine. Tertiary aromas still contend with primary fruit, but the tannins have smoothed out nicely. (1827 views)
Tasted by Macman77 on 8/9/2021 & rated 90 points: Peppery nose with dark fruit (blackberries, cassis), integrated oak and a floral tone of violet.
Peppery taste, with tannins present, cassis, sloan, chark and a meaty finish. Still youthful. (2012 views)
Menoum! (2010 views)
Tasted by Nanda on 1/12/2021: Meaty, funky, peppery black fruit that is plump and juicy. In a sweet spot now and so good at the dinner table. (2277 views)
Tasted by rikipedia on 7/27/2020 & rated 90 points: Deep purple-ruby. plenty of black and white pepper, then herb, bay leaf, kalamata olives, blueberry and stemmy notes. A sappy, almost tart attack where the invigorating acidity meets the stems and slightly dry texture. the wine is muscular, very focussed and animated with firm almost abrasive tannins. There is a distinct vegetal, broccoli note, yet also blueberry, intense white pepper, a hint of smoke, even garlic and a sour black cherry tannin. Then as the wine evolves there is a meaty almost feral note. There is a good concentration and clearly, this is a smart wine but I found the wine quite busy and in need of some integration with time. luckily there are further bottles. (1487 views)
Tasted by rikipedia on 7/27/2020 & rated 88 points: Deep almost opaque purple-ruby. A noted white pepper on the nose with herbal elements, bay leaf, stems, Kalamata olives, garlic polony, dabs of smoke and frozen blueberries. The palate reflects the stem inclusion with a sappy almost tart acidity, with a sour blackberry and blueberry fruit a distinct vegetal note (broccoli?) and white but also black pepper. This wine is all masculine with a slightly meaty almost bretty element. Despite the fabulous intensity, the tannins are abrasive. The finish is a little drying (brett again?), and there is a vegetal after kick. A good wine but feels a little over-eager. (2240 views)
Tasted by Doblk on 6/15/2020 & rated 91 points: Opaque dark red. Beautiful sweet herby nose. Pepper, cedar, char, and smoke. Evenly structured. The tannins have softened and the acid gives it a soft punch. This will keep but it’s drinking pretty great now. (1998 views)
Tasted by korniev on 5/29/2020 & rated 87 points: I absolutely love Graillot but this is my second time with 2013 and this year is just not Graillot level(( Not as good as expected (1954 views)
Tasted by Robert Pavlovich on 4/8/2020 & rated 92 points: Very youthful, brimming with energy, though pretty well settled now with about five years of bottle age. Strong, fresh acidity, and bold dark fruit, big black pepper note, mild green peppercorn and garlicy white spice. Shows fine tannins, and good sustain through the finish. Such great precision to this, almost seemed a bit foursquare at first but it was just its youthful vibrancy.

Followed over 4 days now, and it showed nice development of complex flavors on day 3, there was only about a glass left, kind of left it for dead, but here, a day later this might be my favorite glass. Threw a bit of sediment, but really impressive how this has held up, showing great, and still carrying some good firmness to its structure, wow. This and Faury Saint Joseph V.V. are a couple of the best values in the N Rhône and likely world wide. (2204 views)
Tasted by cevans129 on 3/14/2020 & rated 92 points: An excellent crozes hermitage - pure Syrah almost austere. Deep nose with violets, leather, dried meats, full, rounded palate and mouthfeel with a medium length finish. For the money, I thought it was great. (1793 views)
Tasted by MLipton on 7/25/2019: Opened tonight with venison tenderloin. A classic rendition of Syrah, still fairly primary, but with some green olive and white pepper showing through the fruit. A bit of back-end coarseness shows that the the tannins will take a few more years to fully resolve. This one should be good for another 5-10 years. (2243 views)
Tasted by Shay.Aldriedge on 4/10/2019 & rated 91 points: This was significantly darker in profile in comparison to other Crozes-Hermitage wines I’ve had. Violets, underripe blackberry and charcoal aromatics. There was a streak of iron down the middle of the palate to go with more blackberry, spiced rhubarb and cedar. Chewy tannins. No problem holding for a few more years. (2395 views)
Tasted by Kriz on 3/28/2019 & rated 90 points: I love the purity of this Syrah. Very typical and expressive. Power, acidity.. BAM! a great wine. (2227 views)
Tasted by vinero on 10/12/2018 & rated 91 points: A Crozes-Hermitage that approaches a real Hermitage in appearance (and price). Very dark in the glass, limited nose, on the palate good and pure fruit, a strong acid backbone and a long, relatively dry and tannic finish. Very well made and very nice to drink. Maybe time will further improve this wine - the word „crozes“ made me uncertain to wait. As of today the bit lacking complexity and dryness of the finish prevent a higher score than 91p. (3102 views)
Tasted by hanskris on 9/21/2018 & rated 92 points: 2nd bottle of 5, first was flawed. Nice nose of blackberry and blueberry with hints of clove and eucalyptus. Taste is very good with the same blackberry and blueberry as in the nose, its round with nice rounded tannins in the finish. Long aftertaste with hint of coconut and leather. Very good. (2892 views)
Tasted by james05500 on 6/2/2018 flawed bottle: The bottle was faulted - VA (3116 views)
(2651 views)

Syrah

Varietal article (Wikipedia) | (Wines Northwest)

Note that some producers in the Northern Rhone distinguish between simply Syrah and "Serine", the latter described as ‘an ancient clone of Syrah, the berries of which are more oval-shaped and less deeply pigmented than Syrah’ by producer Tardieu-Laurent.

Northern Rhône

Guide to the wines and appellations of the Northern Rhone Valley -

The Rhône Valley/Le Vins de la Vallée du Rhône (Comité Interprofession des vins AOC Côtes et vallée du Rhône)

Regional History:
Phocaean Greeks established viticulture in the Rhone as far back as 600 BC, but until the 14th century the wines were not seen outside the region. The establishment of the Avignonese Papacy (1305-1377) brought fame to the region's wine-so much so that their Burgundian neighbors to the north banned wines from the Rhone in 1446, a measure that effectively cut off trade with England and other Northern European markets for over 200 years. Stretching southward from Lyon to just south of Avignon, the Rhone produces a wide variety of wines, with the appellations north of Valence producing the least (in volume), and the towns south of Montelimar producing prodigious amounts. As in other regions, the most interesting wines come from small farms. Saint-Joseph, in the northern Rhone, extends for some distance between Condrieu in the north to Saint-Peray in the south. The reds are made from Syrah and the rare whites from Marsanne and Roussanne, and Viognier.
