Tasted by Zweder on 2/15/2024 & rated 91 points: A lot of herbs like celery and spices in the bouquet which shows development. On the palate a sweet start, garrigue, good acidity and drying tannin. Quite mature. (461 views)
Tasted by Dancing with bottles on 12/18/2023 & rated 93 points: takes at least 2h of aeration,
Still pretty young. Quite approachable, nicely structured and easy drinking in the beginning. Getting better and better after two days in a half emptied bottle.
No need to hurry. (422 views)
Tasted by Juliano23 on 11/16/2023 & rated 95 points: Outstanding. Very complex, notes of Clove, dried fruits and herbal hints. Wonderful integration of tertiary aromas, which now shine really. Deep purple color with slightly brownish rim, simply because of age. Long long finish, mouthwatering. (481 views)
Tasted by ogres3 on 10/1/2023 & rated 91 points: Not sure I'm as big a fan as many on CT. Pleasant, full bodied, still somewhat acidic even with a few hours of air. (613 views)
Tasted by JWG on 12/13/2022 & rated 94 points: Do not have any real notes on this, but I took it to a party with high-end bistro menu and it was a great, rich bottle that in some ways outperformed the 2004 Bordeaux that our host opened. (1142 views)
Tasted by Zweder on 11/17/2022 & rated 93 points: Beautiful somewhat rustic bouquet. On the palate still beautifully ripe red berries, garrigue, beautiful and juicy acidity and tannin, forest, leather, tobacco and some licorice. Delicious and juicy wine. No hurry at all. I have one more bottle scheduled for 2026. (1199 views)
Tasted by Paul S on 7/27/2022 & rated 93 points: Cae's Surprise Birthday (Chancery): A real charmer - this was Provence in a glass. It had a lovely nose, with ripe, sunny aromas lf blackberries, cassis and plums laced with little rustic notes of earth, meat and olive tapenade, and then a lovely kiss of lavender and garrigue. There was maybe a little waft of glycerol at the edges at first, but that blew off with time. The palate was very enjoyable. There was a nice sappy fruitiness to it, with plums and cassis aplenty, but the plump, juicy weight of the fruit was nicely balanced with well-integrated acidity and a velvety structure that lent the wine a nice sense of balance and flow. Nice finish too, with little twists of garrigue, bramble and a kiss lf soemthing minty right at the edges of back palate. This will be a long lived one. While drinking quite nicely now, there was still a remnant of a raw, youthful edginess to it that should continue to resolve and develop over the next few years. (1989 views)

(1476 views)
Tasted by dsimmons on 2/28/2022 & rated 94 points: PnP and drank this delicious Gigondas with a spaghetti dinner. Lovely fruit, great balance. Still has some tannic twang. Happy to have a few more. Drink or hold. (1827 views)
Tasted by eb1202 on 12/6/2021 & rated 93 points: nose of graphite, incense, garrigue, smoke, blackberry, dates, cassis and ripe dark cherries, spices, very ripe grapes, very concentrated, deep purple colour, dries fruits, great structure, meaty, complex, 80% Grenache and 20% Mourvedre, 2-4 hours decanting, even better on the 3rd or 4th day,

Tasted by rmalloy on 11/30/2021 & rated 92 points: This is a big, burly wine with viscous fruit and rough tannins (and a huge amount of sediment). The mature flavor profile shows dried fruits, molasses, and mushroomy soil. I recommend decanting / filtering this. (1495 views)
Tasted by rmalloy on 9/13/2021 & rated 96 points: Every time I’ve tasted this wine over the course of the past few weeks (using coravin), it has wowed me. It is a hella good wine that is by no means a poor man’s CdP. (1550 views)
Tasted by rmalloy on 8/23/2021 & rated 94 points: This is a stunning wine. I can’t remember a wine that smelled so much of soy sauce. The rich barleywine character on the palate reminds me of CdP. The tannins are still heavy. This wine was obviously intended to be an age-worthy blockbuster. While there is maturity in the flavor profile, it still might benefit from a few years more bottle age to soften and smooth it. Hard to say. (1392 views)
Tasted by rmalloy on 6/14/2021 & rated 91 points: Dark and viscous. Thick dried figs, melted licorice, black cherries, and raspberry preserves. A floral top note I can’t identify. But don’t let these tasting notes fool you: this is about as rough and masculine as wines get. Heavy tannins. If only I had a hunk of some hard aged cheese, which is the only thing that can stand up to this monster of a wine. Drink now. (1552 views)
Tasted by murkybird on 6/6/2021 & rated 91 points: Rich and spicy with a little of that cinnamon octane heat. Good with shawarma (1297 views)
Tasted by PVJC on 2/27/2021 & rated 94 points: Excellent. Our last bottle & a notch better than the one from a couple months ago. Still feels like fruit has faded a bit from its peak, but a good balance of fruit and rustic tannins and just the right earthiness and weight to pair well with homemade pizzas on a winter night. (1713 views)
Tasted by WilD on 12/18/2020 & rated 93 points: Still great and definitely not down the hill. Great garrique. Blueberries, herbs, mint, rosemarrin. Great complex secundair aromas. Drink my last bottle in 2023. (1577 views)
Tasted by PVJC on 12/16/2020 & rated 93 points: Very good but not as terrific as the last bottle a couple years ago, unfortunately past it's peak and shouldn't have kept this long. (1559 views)
Tasted by John McCabe on 11/8/2019 & rated 95 points: Not as stunning as the couple I had before but still lovely - might be one to drink now vs. wait. Rich and decadent. (2591 views)
Tasted by lkilpio on 10/20/2019 & rated 92 points: Tasted last time for 5 years ago. Back then, the wine was full-bodied, straightforward and youthful. But at the moment it is surprisingly Burgundian in character. The mouthfeel is soft, and the aromas and flavors of ripe red berries, such as raspberry, are prominent and alluring. However, the regionally typical darker tones, such as blackberry and garrigue, are also there. The wine is still fresh because of the lively acidity.

In my opinion, this wine is in a good phase at the moment. It is still fruity and full-bodied, but also softer and more multidimensional than for 5 years ago. But I do not know, how this wine would develop in the future. Maybe the best time to drink this wine is now? (2424 views)
Tasted by Doctor Koulodare on 4/6/2019 & rated 98 points: A spectacular bottle of wine. Notes of smoked meat, dark fruit, herbs. Flavors of licorice, black raspberry, with great structure. A massive and concentrated wine. (2669 views)
Tasted by Thorwijn on 2/3/2019 & rated 93 points: A bit of a bizar wine. Very characteristic with sweet hints of dark berries, laurel and eucalyptus. Very ‘round’, almost lemonade like. A bit high in alcohol, so don’t serve too warm. Best around 18 Celcius. (2983 views)
Tasted by marsja79 on 1/19/2019 & rated 89 points: Really nice after one hour in carafe and but you can feel the high alcohol percent (15,5%). Dry fruits like raisin and a bit of blackberry (2496 views)
Tasted by Zweder on 12/31/2018 & rated 93 points: No formal notes, but as usual beautiful garrigue, good acidity and soft tannin. Showing some development, but certainly a very delicious wine. (2308 views)
Tasted by NoTrollingerPlease on 11/10/2018 & rated 91 points: Asperg Wine Syndrome Tasting Group: Mostly chubby reds (@Private location): Tasted blind. Decanted for about 45min. Clear, deep purple color. Clean, medium intense, youthful and chubby nose with lots of red and dark fruit, tobacco, smoke and herbs.
Dry, medium+ acidity, high, ripe tannin. Alcohol was well integrated, the wine was not hot. But it gave the wine a kind of alcoholic sweetness which was a bit exhausting. On the palate very concentrated with a silky texture. Full bodied. Lots of red and blue fruit, garrigue , oaky core, medium length. Very baroque and chubby puppy fat. The question is: How will it develop in 5 or 10 years? At the moment a bit exhausting and massive. Nevertheless a good wine. 91-92 (2303 views)

Red Rhone Blend

Read about the different grapes used to produce red and white Rhone wines
On CellarTracker, Red Rhone Blend is the term for a wine consisting of two or more of the traditional 13 Southern Rhone grape varieties. Typically it's the Grenache, Syrah, Mourvedre or Cinsault grapes, but can also contain the Muscardin, Counoise, Clairette, Bourboulenc, Picpoul, Roussanne, Terret Noir, Picardan or Vaccarese grapes.

A 'food' wine. Lacking pretension and intended for local consumption with local cuisine. Lacks the 'high' notes on a Bordeaux, more earthy and sharper so often a better partner to meat dishes with a sauce.
