Community Tasting History

Community Tasting Notes (average 89.7 pts. and median of 90 pts. in 87 notes) - hiding notes with no text

Tasted by Marcel NZ on 12/26/2023 & rated 96 points: Better than most premier cru - mineral and precision but enough depth to balance - drink next 5 years (263 views)
Tasted by llink on 7/31/2022 & rated 89 points: PNP. Light yellow. Lemon, pineapple and some nose tickling spice. Broad palate deep and fairly wide with a lively texture and wonderful balance between the fruit and acid. Citrus rind finish. In a great spot tonight

Revisiting the last half after a few days in the refrigerator sealed and vacu vin. Comparing to the 2013 Roulot BB. The nose is more tropical than citrus and spice. Palate is richer and a bit flat and rounder than the 13, less lively but still holding up extremely well. (288 views) (937 views)
Tasted by llink on 3/2/2021 & rated 89 points: Popped and poured. Citrus, white flowers and a slightly tropical fruit note on the nose. Palate is lean and crisp, strong acidity and very lively. Really great for the appellation, finishes with a hint of spice and some juicy citrus elements. (1712 views)
Tasted by Russell Faulkner on 8/29/2020: Fresh hazelnut flour and quince. Mature and delicious. (1870 views)
Tasted by .M. on 8/7/2020 & rated 87 points: Var strålende ved åpning, lys i frukten, mineralsk og spenstig, men utviklet raskt en karamelltone. Ingen klassisk oksidasjon, men kanskje en litt off flaske? (1809 views)
Tasted by llink on 5/19/2020 & rated 89 points: Popped and poured.Sulphur and mineral infused nose, some flint and lemon. Crisp palate, very acidic and still showing very young. Sharp texture and a drying finish, this is really lean and lovely at 10 years of age. No hurry to drink up. (1860 views)
Tasted by Aravind Asok on 1/5/2020: If there is a better Bourgogne Blanc, please tell me. Nose absolutely dripping with lemon and crushed stone; amazing minerality. Noble reduction is minimal now, and this nose is so intense, and yet simultaneously subtle. On the palate, lovely density, stunning acidity, more pure lemon and wet stone. Perfectly mature and just stunning. (1789 views)
Tasted by Zweder on 6/17/2019 & rated 91 points: Weekly tasting group RWP #334; Burgundy 2010 (@ VD): In the bouquet chalky minerals, butter, straw and flint stone. On the palate green apples, citrus, peach, minerals, good acidity and bitterness. Luxurious and subtle wine with some toast and a great length. Beautiful wine. (1730 views)
Tasted by yvr2zrh on 11/16/2018 & rated 89 points: Matchstick . . even still at this 8 year stage. (1849 views)
Tasted by Aravind Asok on 8/3/2018: God, that nose. Fantastic nose, just dripping with minerality, smoke, soft honeysuckle and sweet citrus. On the palate, very bright vibrant acidity with loads of stone and sweet lemon. Mineral finish with some tang and some peppet. I had a stunning '13 Roulot BB recently, but the acidity in the '10 is even more intense by comparison...an excellent bottle of wine. (1917 views)
Tasted by jkline on 4/28/2018 & rated 91 points: Fantastic (2406 views)
Tasted by Philippe_C on 1/21/2018 & rated 92 points: Delicious nose of pierre à fusil, matchstick, citrus, mineral... taste of honey, smoke, citrus, yellow apple, super sappy!! (2256 views)
Tasted by Russell Faulkner on 10/28/2017: Still young, electric, rounder though, all hazelnut and lemon. Delicious. (2494 views)
Tasted by llink on 7/29/2017 & rated 89 points: Great nose, showing citrusy flint and reduction that blew off after an hour. Good palate, very lean, acidic, crisp and moderately complex on the palate, but it lacked depth. Showing very well and appears to be aging very slowly. Outstanding for a Bourgogne Blanc. (2541 views)
Tasted by sietes on 7/18/2017: Just delicious. I wish i could get my hands on more. (2267 views)
Tasted by yvr2zrh on 5/2/2017 & rated 90 points: Still drinking really well. Had only modest memories of the last bottle but this one was seriously spot on. As some of said - almost Coche-like - a bit reductive, flint, matchstone - but just nicely balanced overall. Not too complex - just simple and well-made. Thank you @luchets007. (2369 views)
Tasted by B Paul on 2/28/2017: As others tasters have noted, this is drinking really well right now. Still young and fresh, but all elements seem to be in balance. (2398 views)
Tasted by Bourgognefreak on 2/23/2017 & rated 90 points: Tasted for the second time in a week and almost as good as the first one.

Served blind and people guessed Commune or small premier cru level which underlines that this has quality. (2050 views)
Tasted by dansamsoe on 2/20/2017: Great showing for a bourgogne blanc. Some citrus and yellow/white fruits. Good balance. (1640 views)
Tasted by Bourgognefreak on 2/16/2017 & rated 91 points: timing to drink this is spot on. Perfect balance between initial freshness and more mature notes.
It is amazing that a BB can rival even 1Cru wines but eventhough this does not have immense complexity it has the most delicate balance and above all the wine is refreshing begging for another glass. (1684 views)
Tasted by JOsgood on 1/20/2017: Another delicious Roulot. Nice notes of reduction as is typical - matchstick, gun smoke, flint. Mineral and intense on the palate. Still just a baby. (1745 views)
Tasted by brigcampbell on 12/11/2016: Book Club - Grand Finale: Wow this is a great wine for $35.Big flinty nose and matchbook. Really delicious flavors where the flint shows up again and there's some yellow fruit and lemon rind. Medium minus mouth feel and light colored but excellent value. Highly recommend for the price. (2004 views)
Tasted by Frank Murray III on 12/11/2016: Hadn't tried one of these in a few years, but Brig was able to chase one down and we got to have a glass of it. Lovely texture, polished and creamy with good balancing acidity, finishing with a little mineral. Seems to be in a good place, no signs of ox. (1786 views)
Tasted by fcxj on 9/23/2016 & rated 88 points: Nicely reductive and fresh. (1791 views)
Tasted by fcxj on 6/8/2016 & rated 90 points: Surprisingly good, punching way above its weight. If you just smelled it, you'd think Coche. Not the density, complexity and length on palate of his premier cru, but compared to other producers... (2255 views)

Burgundy

Les vins de Bourgogne (Bureau interprofessionnel des vins de Bourgogne) (and in English)

Burgundy - The province of eastern France, famous for its red wines produced from Pinot Noir and its whites produced from Chardonnay. (Small of amounts of Gamay and Aligoté are still grown, although these have to be labeled differently.) The most famous part of the region is known as the Cote d'Or (the Golden Slope). It is divided into the Cote de Beaune, south of the town of Beaune (famous principally for its whites), and the Cote de Nuits, North of Beaune (home of the most famous reds). In addition, the Cote Chalonnaise and the Maconnais are important wine growing regions, although historically a clear level (or more) below the Cote d'Or. Also included by some are the regions of Chablis and Auxerrois, farther north.

# 2013 Vintage Notes:
* "2013 is a vintage that 20 years ago would have been a disaster." - Will Lyons
* "low yields and highly variable reds, much better whites." - Bill Nanson
* "Virtually all wines were chaptalised, with a bit of sugar added before fermentation to increase the final alcohol level." - Jancis Robinson

# 2014 Vintage Notes:
"We have not had such splendid harvest weather for many years. This will ensure high quality (fragrant, classy and succulent are words already being used) across the board, up and down the hierarchy and well as consistently from south to north geographically apart from those vineyards ravaged by the hail at the end of June." - Clive Coates

# 2015 Vintage Notes:
"Low yields and warm weather allowed for ample ripeness, small berries and an early harvest. Quality is looking extremely fine, with some people whispering comparisons with the outstanding 2005 vintage. Acid levels in individual wines may be crucial." - Jancis Robinson

# 2017 Vintage Notes:
"Chablis suffered greatly from frost in 2017, resulting in very reduced volumes. As ever, the irony seems to be that what remains is very good quality, as it is in the Côte d’Or. Cooler nights across the region have resulted in higher-than-usual acidity, with good conditions throughout the harvest season allowing for ripe, healthy fruit." - Jancis Robinson

# 2018 Vintage Notes:
"The most successful region for red Burgundy in 2018 was the Côte de Beaune. The weather was ideal in this area, with just enough sunlight and rain to produce perfectly balanced wines naturally." - Vinfolio
