| Community Tasting Notes (average 93 pts. and median of 93 pts. in 14 notes) - hiding notes with no text | | Tasted by Motz on 9/11/2023 & rated 95 points: Enjoyed over a few days.
An elegant and precise offering! It offers effusive floral and fruit notes, along with dark chocolate, and molasses. Of the three '11 Vintage Ports tasted recently, however, this featured the greatest expression of black earth and mineral ores, a bell ringer!
Seamless middle, back, and finish transitions. Powerful structure and mind-bending range. This earth-driven offering can age and compete with the bigger names in this vintage. Let it rest. Should curiosity come calling during the next several years, recommend an 8+ hour decant. Improvement seems possible. 95-96. Had good depth and texture on the back end with a mostly single dark fruit note at the front. I look forward to tasting my next bottle in a decade or so. Flott vanlje og morell og plomme juice (1588 views) | | Tasted by Motz on 10/29/2020 & rated 96 points: Like so many Ports of this stellar vintage, this wine drinks like a bold red, which just happens to have some sweetness, packs serious acid and tannin, and wears its alcohol exceptionally well. The liquefied black rock suspension, another calling card of the vintage, also shows beautifully here. This wine over-achieves in every measurable category. Striking now, but unlikely to enter an optimal drinking window in less than twenty years, perhaps twenty-five or thirty. 96-97! (2490 views) | | Tasted by Muledog71 on 7/16/2019 & rated 93 points: Drank on man trip ‘19, slightly chilled. Licorice with tons of fruit boosting the intensity. Still holding great acidity with a finish for miles. Alcohol integrated perfectly with a solid tannic structure. Would definitely buy again, still has a long way to go! (2193 views) | | Tasted by FjordogFjell on 4/2/2015 & rated 92 points: 4,5/5 Påskekrim og port :-) Nesten svart, svært konsentrert frukt, god? alkohol, fast og frisk ettersmak. Deilig med voldsom frukt ala Niepoort Bioma. Holdt seg fint over flere dager (1729 views) | | Tasted by yofog on 10/25/2014: Old school, and a little disjointed. (3610 views) | | Tasted by elise on 1/12/2014 & rated 92 points: Musty, somewhat bretty nose Smooth, well balanced, good tannin and acid, brandy showing thru
Tasted in a formal setting (3290 views) | | Tasted by dpolivy on 1/10/2014 & rated 95 points: Vindredi (Bellevue, WA): Tasted blind. Nice nose, more subtle but still some spice and perhaps a touch of veg. Rich body with loads of black cherry and hints of orange zest. Soft, elegant, and round, this lingers pleasantly on the palate, and finishes with roundness and balanced acidity. Very approachable right now, this seems designed for more shorter term drinking. Floral notes and dark fruit on the nose. Red fruit on the palate with pronounced tannins. Slightly drier in style. Approachable and drinkable. (69 views) |
