Tasted by MineWine on 12/20/2023 & rated 90 points: Needed a long time to open up, should have been decanted. Carol initially thought it was bad, so we opened something else. (300 views)
Tasted by Steve&Carolyn on 4/1/2022 & rated 91 points: Strong and fruity with notes of brambleberries, dark plums, bing cherries. Spice on the back palate.
Light tannins. Long finish. (1378 views)
Tasted by Risky on 5/2/2021 & rated 92 points: Wonderful heavy body, dark Berry , smooth wine, slightly spicy (2044 views)
Tasted by jfolbe on 1/30/2021 & rated 93 points: Agree with WSHighins. This is at its prime. Great nose, great fruit, soft tannins. (2223 views)
Tasted by jwhiggins on 7/22/2020 & rated 93 points: Still tight when first opened. Decanted, which opened aromatics. Last third of the bottle showed very well after being open for about an hour. Savory, earthy aromatics on the nose, including sassafras, eucalyptus, and cedary tobacco. Tannins were smooth and developed with almost a gravelly character (think a slightly more chunky Rutherford dust) evincing a complimentary minerality. Rich dark black cherry and cassis fruit on the palate along with distinctive vanilla mocha flavors bookended by complex savory herbal notes. Still good for at least another five years, which should help refine the overall structure even further, but absolutely delicious even now. Served with a beef roast and roasted root vegetables (carrots, turnips, and potatoes). Excellent pairing, with the wine finessing the beef; however the savory herbal notes of the wine really complimented the earthy flavors of the root vegetables. Also included some very ripe fried plantain on the plate, which--because it was so ripe--had a slightly sweet banana character that actually worked really well with the fragrant aromas of the wine. Over delivers for price point, which is virtually always the case with this wine, vintage after vintage. (2534 views)
Tasted by sylviap on 4/4/2020: Still excellent, with flavorful nose and palate. We had with Moroccan chicken Tagine, complemented nicely the spices, dates and root vegetables. Probably at its peak. (2657 views)
Tasted by Gaylord W on 2/12/2020 & rated 93 points: Fabulous. 2012 full of fruit and deep red body. Decanted no sediment. Love this one. I have some really good tasting wines in my closet. So keep tuned. Beer of the month is Gennesee Cream Ale (2086 views)
Tasted by Tonyboons33 on 1/4/2020 & rated 89 points: Very nice value, drinks better than it's price point. These are in a good place right now and opened up alongside the 2012. The 2013 had a little less fruit and more earth, but better structure with the 2012 being more fruit forward and jammy/vanilla. Table was split as to which they liked better. (1602 views)
Tasted by Danneskjöld on 8/28/2019 & rated 88 points: Duft av mørke bær og eik.

Faste, fine tanniner. God konsentrasjon. Forholdsvis God lengde med mørke bær på smak. (2020 views)
Tasted by peeno on 6/11/2019 & rated 88 points: Nice everyday cab. Smooth. Not over powering. Probably can drink this with just about any food. (1849 views)
Tasted by bordeaux456 on 4/10/2019 & rated 88 points: This is a lovely wine in a great place right now. Drank at Modern Steak in Calgary ($120/bottle). Drank very similar to a slightly older Bordeaux. Vineyard is on point. Oak, dried red fruit (think raspberries, strawberries and currant). Long-ish finish. Pretty good QPR. Lovely, will buy some for personal cellar.

88 (1628 views)
Tasted by Risky on 12/8/2018 & rated 92 points: Smooth deep berry, heavy, great slight berry aftertaste (1994 views)
Tasted by redz on 11/4/2018 & rated 91 points: Nice, still young (2009 views)
Tasted by Risky on 9/27/2018 & rated 90 points: Smooth, dark fruit (1828 views)
Tasted by wineshaman on 9/9/2018 & rated 89 points: Pnp, good fruit, still some tannins, not jammy or overly complex. (1738 views)
Tasted by Stephen Rash on 8/12/2018 & rated 92 points: Dark garnet in color, semi-clear, hazy; nose of cherries, tobacco, black licorice, cedar, and mint; bing cherry, oak, eucalyptus, and tobacco on the palate; medium(+) body, medium acidity, medium (chalky) tannins; long finish with hints of fig. Great Napa Cab that's firing on all cylinders right now!! (1864 views)
Tasted by Wine Lover 1964 on 3/22/2018 & rated 97 points: Nice balanced Napa cab flavors. Great QPR tasting above the $30. Might be peaking but I think at least 2+ years left. Held up nicely day #2. (2156 views)
Tasted by Sniffy-Sniff on 1/14/2018 & rated 91 points: Opened up nicely after about. 30 minutes. Cigar box, mushroom, dusty tannins, long finish. Just entering drinking window. (2417 views)
Tasted by Yaco3 on 1/13/2018 & rated 92 points: Developing in the bottle nicely. Needs to be decanted for a while until it opens. After about an hour it developed nice complex flavors. (2217 views)
Tasted by Mattshank on 1/12/2018 & rated 90 points: Nose: Nice florals with dark fruit aromas. Palate: Dark fruited with ample acids and tannins. Finish is medium to long. While not a rock star still well made for a $30 cab. (1119 views)
Tasted by The Beldens on 12/26/2017 & rated 92 points: Stunning Cabernet. Drinks well now and still has some years to run! (2023 views)
Tasted by Winowhyno on 12/8/2017 & rated 89 points: Decent every day drinker...not very complex ...average smoothness...a little on the bitter side at the finish (2343 views)
Tasted by lundmc on 9/4/2017 & rated 91 points: Medium to dark red, smooth drinking with soft oak and tamed tannins. Not a huge wine, but a nice drinker. (2638 views)
Tasted by blabbott on 8/17/2017 & rated 90 points: Dark tart fruit blends pleasantly with tannins and spice to make a pleasant wine. Medium body and medium finish. This isn't a OMG wine but it is a tasty midweek wine. (862 views)
Tasted by pdxpinotlover on 7/26/2017: 91. In a good place no decant. Oak is well integrated and tannins are soft. Nice fruit. Enjoyed with grilled Italian sausage and grilled zucchini with a nice red sauce (2987 views)

Cabernet Sauvignon

Cabernet Sauvignon is probably the most famous red wine grape variety on Earth. It is rivaled in this regard only by its Bordeaux stablemate Merlot, and its opposite number in Burgundy, Pinot Noir. From its origins in Bordeaux, Cabernet has successfully spread to almost every winegrowing country in the world. It is now the key grape variety in many first-rate New World wine regions, most notably Napa Valley, Coonawarra and Maipo Valley. Wherever they come from, Cabernet Sauvignon wines always seem to demonstrate a handful of common character traits: deep color, good tannin structure, moderate acidity and aromas of blackcurrant, tomato leaf, dark spices and cedarwood.

Used as frequently in blends as in varietal wines, Cabernet Sauvignon has a large number of common blending partners. Apart from the obvious Merlot and Cabernet Franc, the most prevalent of these are Malbec, Petit Verdot and Carmenere (the ingredients of a classic Bordeaux Blend), Shiraz (in Australia's favorite blend) and in Spain and South America, a Cabernet – Tempranillo blend is now commonplace. Even the bold Tannat-based wines of Madiran are now generally softened with Cabernet Sauvignon

USA

American wine has been produced since the 1500s, with the first widespread production beginning in New Mexico in 1628. Today, wine production is undertaken in all fifty states, with California producing 84% of all U.S. wine. The continent of North America is home to several native species of grape, including Vitis labrusca, Vitis riparia, Vitis rotundifolia, and Vitis vulpina, but the wine-making industry is based almost entirely on the cultivation of the European Vitis vinifera, which was introduced by European settlers. With more than 1,100,000 acres (4,500 km2) under vine, the United States is the fourth-largest wine producing country in the world, after Italy, Spain, and France.

2021 vintage: "Unlike almost all other areas of the state, the Russian River Valley had higher than normal crops in 2021, which has made for a wine of greater generosity and fruit forwardness than some of its stablemates." - Morgan Twain-Peterson
