| Community Tasting Notes (average 92 pts. and median of 92 pts. in 4 notes) - hiding notes with no text | | Tasted by RayOB on 8/12/2021 & rated 92 points: Drank at 67 Quite dry and acidic, still lots of white fruit on the nose. (660 views) | | Tasted by kingkanu on 1/16/2017: Nose is lightly musty, quite reticent, a touch of dried tangerine peel, faded spices, yellow apples, everything's quite elusive, plenty of acidity, toffee apple complex but it's so hard to pick anything out, long. Almost ethereal for an old vouvray (1764 views) | | Tasted by BradKNYC on 9/15/2012: A deep gold in color with marzipan, shoe polish and dried apricot aromas. Unfortunately, on the palate it's not as lively or complete as the bottle I had last year. Lots of lanolin showing in this bottle, with dessicated stone and citrus fruit, mineral and show polish. There's a waxy edge showing, but it's not honeyed. There's a nice resonance on the finish, but the wine simply lacks the vibrancy, fruit and expansiveness across the mid-palate as the last bottle I had. Still, quite tasty. A-/B+. (2983 views) | | Tasted by BradKNYC on 9/12/2011: Good wines and fun times as Nicos returns to New York. (La Fonda Del Sol): Nicos generously schlepped this bottle from London to NYC and then proceeded to carry it around town before dinner. It was warm when he got to the restaurant, so we immediately shocked it in an ice bucket, then popped and poured when cold enough. Despite those less than ideal conditions, it was the wine of the night. While it remained tight on the nose, it was just stunning on the palate. There's a wonderful richness to the wine without the severity that I often find in a Sec bottling. Fresh and still yellow fruited with quince and tropical notes, a nice mineral streak and marzipan on the back end. Incredible length persistence. The wine just dances across the palate and lingers there. I managed to keep some in my glass for over an hour and a half and the wine kept growing. Would love to try one decanted well ahead of time and with a lot more time to spend with it. Just gorgeous. A. (3946 views) |
