Tasted by kevin h on 7/8/2023 & rated 92 points: Much better than I remember it. I’ve had this bottle in the cellar for over 10 years and it showed a nice mix of nuttiness and red fruit. Deep and complex with quite a bit of intensity. Excellent. (444 views)
Tasted by robmatic on 2/21/2022: Was saving this last bottle to drink with my father, who was born in 1928. But for the last few years he hadn't been drinking wine or alcohol of any sort any more so we never found the occasion to drink it. He died today, just a few days before his 94th birthday, so I decided to open this bottle and drink it with some friends. Call it the mood or whatever, but I found this wine to be terrific. Full of life and interest, plenty of biting acidity and a good dose of residual sugar. Yeah, maybe not the most profound wine in the world, but today it was 100 points. Here's to you, pops.  Tasted by Harley1199 on 12/30/2021: By the glass. Caramelised and lactic almonds and peanuts.Unlimited complexity. Juicy and a creamy texture on the palate.Lacking in acidity but deeply delicious.

Por copas. Almendras y cacahuetes garrapiñados y lácticos. Complejidad sin límite. Jugoso y una textura cremosa al paladar. Falto de acidez pero profundamente delicioso. (1293 views)
Tasted by mrgarreth on 8/7/2021 & rated 87 points: Cask 873. Cherry jam, raspberry, dried currants, allspice, prune and toffee. It is really quite fun, if a little cherry dominant. Falls away a little on the finish. But fabulous value! (1377 views)
Tasted by empire80 on 7/27/2020 & rated 92 points: Cask 931. Rich treacle and dates, some acidity to balance and just a hint of oxidation/madeira. A nice package. (1823 views)
Tasted by ricard on 3/6/2019 flawed bottle: Cask 875. Good, but unbalanced. Nutty, treacly, stewed prunes; raisins, dates and figs. But something is off - it's a bit rancid. This wine is flawed. There's a noticeable decay here. Pity! (2247 views)
Tasted by robmatic on 2/23/2019 & rated 89 points: Sweet, brown sugar and prunes. Not overly alcoholic, but also not a lot of depth to this. Certainly an intriguing wine, and fun to drink though. (1818 views)
Tasted by S1 on 12/27/2018: Another week, Another Burgundy Thursday: Typical Maury rustic tannins with notes of prune, dried fig, and light orange zest. There is enough acidity to balance the sweet, but not enough fruit to balance tannin. It is still very pleasant though. (2169 views)
Tasted by finewinebuff57 on 8/29/2016 & rated 90 points: Cask 811. Reliably good and this with some bottle age is in perfect condition. (2996 views)
Tasted by John Nezlek on 9/16/2015 & rated 87 points: Good, but great. My bottle was still a bit rough around the edges. Good flavor, but not as well integrated as I thought it would be. I will give the remaining two a few more years. (3260 views)
Tasted by PT insurgent on 2/14/2015: prune, fig, compote, nut, coffee. High acid, med+ tannin. (3254 views)
Tasted by bacchus of knockholt on 12/31/2014 & rated 92 points: Lovely dark tawny colour, tears clinging to the side. Nose of mocha, raisin, fig, mincemeat. The flavours are wonderfully, rich and sweet. There's raisins and sultana, cooked plums. No discernbible tannins and not at all cloying because of the fresh orange zest acidity on the finish. Really good stuff and great value. (3198 views)
Tasted by Yme on 11/17/2014: Lovely pairing with a chocolate orange ganache. The raisins, caramel and nutty flavours really complemented the dark chocolate base dessert. (3191 views)
Tasted by Chariot1 on 12/8/2013 & rated 88 points: Light in body but rich with good raisin flavours (2748 views)

Tasted by Biggsy on 8/15/2013 & rated 90 points: Raisin and chocolate on the nose. The palate is fresh and bright yet sugary and sweet with baked fruits and a little hit of alcohol. Really long with a sugary, nutty finish. Great value. (2211 views)
Tasted by davestenton on 4/14/2013: The Sampler Spring Tasting 2013 (Islington): Sweet, raisiny nose but the palate is stunningly fresh. Complex with a sweet/savoury balance to the flavours. Very good. 17/20. (2588 views)
Tasted by colmanstephenson on 1/12/2013: Cask 909
Appearance: orangey-brown mahogony. Transparent.
Nose: warm, spicey, attractive, alcohol tingle, fruit cake
Palate: juicy start, medium-plus body. rich, rather then sweet. Plenty of tannin. Bitter alcohol kick
=: delicious, quite full on. . Much richer then equivalently priced port. (3030 views)
Tasted by Holdfast on 10/5/2011 & rated 88 points: (cask 868) Very intriguing. Very robust; caramel with figs with some real chewiness. Went very nicely with cheese; not a glass to sip on its own as the tannins are just too potent for that. But with the right food? Very pleasant indeed. Will see what the rest of the bottle does with a sweet dessert/fruit cake as I suspect that will complement just as well if not better. (3013 views)
Tasted by empire80 on 3/20/2011 & rated 92 points: Superb; sweet but not over the top, with enough concentration to stand up to choclate brownies. I have had this on quite a few occasions in the past - very consistent and reliable. (3205 views)
Tasted by cannym on 10/30/2010 & rated 90 points: Mid mahogany. Lovely nose of caramel and Christmas cake fruits.Same in mouth plus honey and nuts. Fine balancing acidity. Long. (1671 views)
Tasted by Biggsy on 11/28/2009 & rated 89 points: Deep ruby; browning at the rim. Fresh and aromatic with notes of christmas cake, raisin and a hint of brown sugar. Dense and sugary, not cloying due to the lively acidity. Intense and raisined on the palate with dark chocolate, coffee and treacle. Good complexity and length. (3378 views)
Tasted by Xavier Auerbach on 6/10/2009 & rated 92 points: Cask 811. Grenache Noir, Grenache Gris and Carignan. Despite its nose of raisins and cherries more Madeira than Port; medium-dry, woodsy, fresh acidity, tannic; impressive aromatic persistence, orange. (2348 views)
Tasted by rikipedia on 5/7/2008 & rated 92 points: Wine Cellar - South of France (Wine Cellar): (Tasted Blind): A mid-deep brown colour. Sweet nose, very heady and lifted with notes of fresh spices, treacle toffee (Thorntons toffee) with warmed sliced walnuts inside!, dark (90%) chocolate and some damp oak. Sweet entry, oxidative/rancio but still fresh and nicely balanced, this remarkable wine displays incredible complexity and leaves a lasting impression. Wow!
Made from 90 yr-old Grenache vines, low yield of 3-12 hL/Ha. Casks kept in the roof of the Maury Coop. The solera system they use (started in 1928?) only removes a quarter of the liquid at any one time, (156 views)
Tasted by kevin h on 10/21/2007 & rated 90 points: I don't have much experience with Maury wines - especially of this age - but here goes: on opening the nose was distinctly of toffee apples - lovely caramelised sugar and a little porty fruit. It tasted like a rather light/faded port at first but as it opened out over an hour or so the nose, flavour and texture became distinctly of chocolate. Pleasant wine, medium rather than especially sweet and not especially oxidative. Still drinking well the second day (just re-corked the bottle) but all the complexity had gone. Best drunk in one sitting I think. Good enough and certainly interesting. (3583 views)
