Pale amber. Dried tropical fruit. Prior tasting notes from others suggest it’s well past it’s prime. Likely so, but hard to argue against it being a well structured wine that is still drinkable. A bit sweet, full bodied and lush. Oak and some caramel. (515 views) | | Tasted by Minnesota on 7/31/2018 & rated 70 points: Flawed, used for cooking. Shame. Drinking perfect right now. Drinking my 1st of a case. Happy I decided to try now. 10 minutes in and opening up. Hazelnut nose. Love this! The contrast in styles between the two wines was striking. The Martinelli was a much bigger wine, the tropical fruit was the primarily flavor profile. Our friends at the party preferred the Martinelli, largely based upon its stronger fruit profile. (1164 views) | | Tasted by Didman on 7/24/2014 & rated 92 points: Lovely wine. Well balanced with nice fruit and just the right touch of oak. (1352 views) | | Tasted by Deb293 on 3/15/2014 & rated 92 points: Longtime fan of Martinelli Chardonnay, and this one doesn't disappoint. It tends to favor the butterscotch/oak side of things, but not to the point of annoyance. Very full bodied, with a nice acidic lift at the back end, though there is a pronounced bit of heat, too. Long length...a serious wine. (1189 views) |

Today, wine production is undertaken in all fifty states, with California producing 84% of all U.S. wine. The continent of North America is home to several native species of grape, including Vitis labrusca, Vitis riparia, Vitis rotundifolia, and Vitis vulpina, but the wine-making industry is based almost entirely on the cultivation of the European Vitis vinifera, which was introduced by European settlers. With more than 1,100,000 acres (4,500 km2) under vine, the United States is the fourth-largest wine producing country in the world, after Italy, Spain, and France.California2021 vintage: "Unlike almost all other areas of the state, the Russian River Valley had higher than normal crops in 2021, which has made for a wine of greater generosity and fruit forwardness than some of its stablemates." - Morgan Twain-Peterson Sonoma CountyMendocino CountyRussian River Valley Russian River Valley Winegrowers Association | Wikipedia |
