Tasted by haqofeta on 5/20/2023: Golden color. Still plenty of acidity, and that didn't fade over the course of the evening, but everything else was a distant second(ary). The wonderful, caramelly flavors were there, but very, very muted. No amount of swirling, aeration or other tricks coaxed much more out of the wine. The cork was in perfect condition so maybe just a below average vintage starting to assert its influence. Given the color, I don't think it was a dumb phase. (340 views)
Tasted by Collector1855 on 9/16/2016 & rated 94 points: 66x Parker 100-Pointers from Bordeaux 1947-2010 tasted blind (Switzerland): This bottle was added by the host to compare to the 2009 Pape Clement Blanc which is a 100-Pointer. the Cheese and charcutery buffet at the end of the tasting. Medium yellow, lighter than the 2009. Nose of white fruit, flowers, vanilla, nuts and truffles. The palate remains airy and provides a good mouth feel and finish. I preferred this to the 2009 (15643 views)
Tasted by Niagara on 6/28/2015 & rated 92 points: drinking beautifully ... yet still young and has a long way yet to last! (2859 views)
Tasted by Prioryraf on 5/17/2012: 45 semillon and45 Sauvignon 10 muscadelle ! Pale, unusual burnt rubber nose almost Riesling like , on palate oily , unusual complex aromatics, dry attractive finish (4762 views)
Tasted by godx on 4/24/2012 & rated 89 points: La Commanderie de Bordeaux à Vancouver - Pessac-Léognan Commune Event (Bishop's): Medium yellow colour. Notes of diesel, lemon citrus, vanilla oak and orange zest at first on the nose but as it sat in the glass it developed toasty aromas as well. On the palate it’s medium bodied with a slight oily mouthfeel and citrus and stony flavours. There’s bright acidity and the finish offers a faintly austere and citrusy note. Overall well-balanced and a really enjoyable wine. Drink or hold. Very good. (5237 views)
Tasted by salil on 9/20/2011 & rated 90 points: Starts out quite strange and funky with a blast of exhaust fumes and burnt rubber dominating the aromatics, but it clears up with time to show fresh, pale citrus fruit and vanilla cream flavours over a stony base. Nicely balanced with a sense of lightness and clarity to the flavours and bright acids underneath. (4823 views)
Tasted by Samsara on 9/17/2011 & rated 88 points: À détailler (3295 views)
Tasted by beezer6 on 4/4/2011 & rated 90 points: Light spice, honey. The color and aromatics show some serious age - more than what 2002 should be sporting.
Not showing super well, but some solid qualities. Honey, dark burnt caramel. A little more spice on the tongue. Decent.
Slight effervescence on palate. (3107 views)
Tasted by LeatherPalate on 7/27/2009 & rated 88 points: aged Bordeaux night at Cafe Bernard: This had a great nose of petrol, smoke, lemons and rocks.
The mouthfeel is big and viscous with lemons, minerals, and chalky dust.
Unfortunately for me the finish carried a bit too much heat to give this a higher
score. I will say that the others at my table enjoyed this quite a bit more than I. (2825 views)
Tasted by KeithAkers on 7/24/2009 & rated 91 points: Friday night Bordeaux (Cafe Bernard, Chicago IL): nose: extremely intriguing nose filled with minerals and smokey tones along with some petrol tones, clementines, meyer lemons, nutty tones and a good helping of citrus'. Excellent depth with a real youthful sense on the nose

taste: really good and polished feel with medium+ acidity. Well defined and balanced tones of clementines, meyer lemons, smokey tones, and a whole lot of minerals with some crushed rocks added in for good measure

overall: one of the most interesting Bordeaux Blanc's that I've had. I took a smell of what little was left at the end of teh evening and the nose was almost pure petrol, but it was far from off putting. A good amount of depth with really good acidity, this may be in an in between stage currently and the color was excellent light straw yellow. This is a wine that I would love to really spend some time with to get at its full story because it was very interesting (3008 views)
Tasted by Niagara on 6/29/2009: May have been an off bottle -- had a strange, rubbery aftertaste, like chewing on a tire. (2410 views)
Tasted by AllRed on 10/6/2008 & rated 93 points: Pale yellow color. The most impressive of the dry white Bordeaux, with apple, oak, spice, melon and a waxy/earthy note. Full-bodied, with apple and melon flavors and a subtle citrus tone. Powerful. (2268 views)

History of Bordeaux

History of 1855 Bordeaux Classification

"2009 is all about ripeness, with wines impressively packed with ripe fruit and high alcohol levels. They are showy, in-your-face, and full of pleasure. The 2010s have the fruit and alcohol levels of the 2009s, but with a compelling freshness on the finish that balances the fruit and provides a perfect sense of structure." - Ben Nelson

"2016 is a landmark vintage in certain spots of Bordeaux and it should be remembered as one of the most inspired campaigns of the last 40-50+ years." -Jon Rimmerman
"The quality of red Bordeaux in 2016 was universally lauded – although the response to the en primeur campaign was muted. Quantity was high too, with the equivalent of 770 million bottles of wine produced. An exceptionally dry summer with cool nights eventually, thanks to mid September rain, resulted in small, thick-skinned, ripe grapes, and the wines are marked by high tannin and acidity, with superb aromatic fragrance." - Jancis Robinson

"2017 was complicated, but there are some excellent wines. Expect plenty of freshness and drinkability from wines that will offer excellent value, and others that will rival 2016 in terms of ripeness and ageability. But they are likely to be the exception not the rule, making careful selection key." - Jane Anson

"In the past, a vintage such as 2022 may have been overripe, raisined and low in acidity but 2022 had a sneaky little reservoir in its back pocket - a near perfect marriage of cool/cold/rain the previous winter and the previous vintage that literally soaked the soils (a key to why 2022 is not 2003...or 1893)." - Jon Rimmerman
