Golden color. Still plenty of acidity, and that didn't fade over the course of the evening, but everything else was a distant second(ary). The wonderful, caramelly flavors were there, but very, very muted. No amount of swirling, aeration or other tricks coaxed much more out of the wine. The cork was in perfect condition so maybe just a below average vintage starting to assert its influence. Given the color, I don't think it was a dumb phase.

66x Parker 100-Pointers from Bordeaux 1947-2010 tasted blind (Switzerland): This bottle was added by the host to compare to the 2009 Pape Clement Blanc which is a 100-Pointer. the Cheese and charcutery buffet at the end of the tasting. Medium yellow, lighter than the 2009. Nose of white fruit, flowers, vanilla, nuts and truffles. The palate remains airy and provides a good mouth feel and finish. I preferred this to the 2009

La Commanderie de Bordeaux à Vancouver - Pessac-Léognan Commune Event (Bishop's): Medium yellow colour. Notes of diesel, lemon citrus, vanilla oak and orange zest at first on the nose but as it sat in the glass it developed toasty aromas as well. On the palate it’s medium bodied with a slight oily mouthfeel and citrus and stony flavours. There’s bright acidity and the finish offers a faintly austere and citrusy note. Overall well-balanced and a really enjoyable wine. Drink or hold. Very good.
