Tasted by Labrador on 8/17/2023 & rated 87 points: Drank through the week and enjoyed it. It is still a brooding big boy that loves a decant or through a Vinturi. (227 views)
Tasted by wine4lux on 11/21/2022 & rated 90 points: Blackberry on the nose. Very smooth on the palate, blackberry jam and vanilla. Drank over two nights, quite impressive for a 10+ year old syrah. (346 views)
Tasted by wine4lux on 8/12/2022 & rated 89 points: Still a big and fruit-forward wine, loads of ripe blackberry, dark and brooding, some minor black pepper notes. Moderate finish. Paired with a grilled lamb burger. (425 views)
Tasted by wine4lux on 2/28/2021 & rated 89 points: A ripe, bold Napa red, lots of oak. Pleasant enough, not much complexity, not a very strong syrah profile. Still robust (fortunately, as I still have bottles to drink). Would be great with steaks or burgers. Big, bold, a touch sweet, seems to lack finesse (825 views)
Tasted by lsilvphoto on 5/31/2019 & rated 89 points: Not sure if it’s the age or the bottle but a bit flat and flabby. Will give it another hour in the decanter. But so far into the hour not as impressed as I used to be with this vintage (1289 views)
Tasted by Labrador on 2/5/2019 & rated 88 points: Darioush wines are big and bold, and they definitely need time and then decanting.
This bottle was very nice and went beautifully with a steak. (1110 views)
Tasted by Visca on 11/25/2018: Very good (999 views)
Tasted by ozziewine on 4/23/2017 & rated 92 points: Velvety smooth with a lush, syrupy liquer-like essence...but not over-the-top cough syrupy.
Dark blackberry fruit on the palate. A big syrah. Not tremendously complex but very nice.
I suggest a 2-3 hour decant. (1784 views)
Tasted by spineguy on 2/18/2017 & rated 94 points: Wow! In its prime window for consumption now. Some espresso, tobacco, and cassis on the nose. Great viscous velvety mouthfeel. Well integrated medium dark fruits well matched to the mature tannins. Doubt it will get any better. This is what California does really well at a fair price. (1512 views)
Tasted by Wink on 7/25/2016 & rated 92 points: Little to add to my 1/7/15 note on this wine. Opaque purple. Nose of cedar, smoke, blackberry, and vanilla. Ripe full palate of dark fruit, leather, licorice, and espresso. Excellent length. Refreshing acidity. Sweet tannins. Nicely integrated oak. (1690 views)
Tasted by weaverjj on 1/3/2016: The wine has satin-like texture. The body is medium/full. There is moderate sediment in the bottle. The wine has low acidity. It tastes like black pepper. The legs are medium. The wine looks purple colored. The wine finishes medium. (1752 views)
Tasted by Mark Brandon on 1/1/2016 & rated 93 points: Crazy how this resembles the Oz style... but more refined. Love it. (1776 views)
Tasted by brich on 8/3/2015 & rated 90 points: Very interesting. I'm not a great fan of Shiraz, but we visited the winery and bought a case. We put it down until now. Ok, here's the deal: for a Shiraz, I thought it was probably the best one I've had. That said: give me a $20 cab and it blows it away. My son refused to drink it and gave me his glass. So, in conclusion, we didn't dig it. (1540 views)
Tasted by BigRedKT on 6/26/2015 & rated 92 points: This wine is drinking beautifully right now. Perfect structure. (1563 views)
Tasted by Wink on 1/7/2015 & rated 92 points: Nearly opaque purple. Nose of blackberry, blueberry, leather, menthol, and vanilla. Ripe, full palate of blackberry, plum, meat, cedar, and espresso. Excellent length. Pleasant acidity. Sweet tannins. More varietal character and less intrusive oak than the Darioush Signature Shiraz I fell in love with many years ago. (1513 views)
Tasted by BeaverBob on 6/21/2014 & rated 93 points: Very dark purple, like fountain pen ink. Very well structured, medium tannis, dark, dark fruit on June palette, with pepper . Can still get better in the bottle. (1831 views)
Tasted by KeithSurg on 2/6/2014 & rated 92 points: Alcohol prominent on the nose, with mint and menthol. Red berries, spice, earth, and vanilla palate, with tannins slightly gritty on the finish. (2001 views)
Tasted by Terramare on 8/15/2013 & rated 96 points: Pretty extraordinary offering - wish we had many more bottles! (2104 views)
Tasted by brich on 8/3/2013 flawed bottle: Bad bottle. Disappointing. (1949 views)
Tasted by brich on 3/8/2013 & rated 92 points: Better than I remembered it. Don't over-chill this wine; it is quite nice at a warmer temperature. Very lovely balance. (1852 views)
Tasted by Vino Monkeys on 2/1/2013 & rated 92 points: Dark purple to the edge. Well balanced, delicious Napa Shiraz. (1693 views)

USA

American wine has been produced since the 1500s, with the first widespread production beginning in New Mexico in 1628. Today, wine production is undertaken in all fifty states, with California producing 84% of all U.S. wine. The continent of North America is home to several native species of grape, including Vitis labrusca, Vitis riparia, Vitis rotundifolia, and Vitis vulpina, but the wine-making industry is based almost entirely on the cultivation of the European Vitis vinifera, which was introduced by European settlers. With more than 1,100,000 acres (4,500 km2) under vine, the United States is the fourth-largest wine producing country in the world, after Italy, Spain, and France.

2021 vintage: "Unlike almost all other areas of the state, the Russian River Valley had higher than normal crops in 2021, which has made for a wine of greater generosity and fruit forwardness than some of its stablemates." - Morgan Twain-Peterson
