Tasted by Srivastav Grape Escape on 12/29/2023: Thick not acidic. (136 views)
Tasted by levinml on 10/28/2023 & rated 90 points: Still very drinkable, properly cellared. Better than I expected. (240 views)
Tasted by mazik on 4/8/2023 & rated 92 points: Delish! (521 views)
Tasted by DaninClearwater on 3/28/2023 & rated 88 points: more of a curiousity than a good cab (476 views)
Tasted by mazik on 7/28/2022 & rated 92 points: Popped and poured. Dark ruby in the glass. First aroma is dust, but maybe it's Rutherford dust because it opens up after half an hour into a joyfully juicy and fruity charmer with cassis, black cherry, cocoa and a bit of clove on the palate. Very fine tannins, long slightly sweet finish. It's a Thursday wine, but I enjoy Thursdays. Maybe not for long keeping but who knows? Very nice QPR at $18. (784 views)
Tasted by levinml on 3/8/2022 & rated 92 points: This surprised me. Had low expectations given previous tastings, community score and drinking window. But really nice drinking over three nights under pump, with middle of the fairway flavors, no tannic impact but excellent balance. No reason to wait, but nice weeknight wine. (889 views)
Tasted by travelme on 11/13/2021 & rated 92 points: Bought this bottle on release back in 2012/2013. This was magnificent with some long notes on the finish. Really great bottle and wish I had more. (1044 views)
Tasted by mayakacz on 7/1/2021: Massive amounts of sediment.
Smells like a fruit bomb (blueberry, blackberry), but tastes like sadness (like a sad blueberry juice). Turley is good at other things. (1035 views)
Tasted by guitarguy on 6/9/2021 & rated 89 points: As good as it’s been with cool, mellow berry and mild tannic impact. Never a value. Drink any time. (1134 views)
Tasted by Mtnmd1 on 3/19/2020 & rated 91 points: I’m having a tough time sorting this one. I think it just needs to be decanted to come together. Nose was off putting on opening but has smoothed out. Bright cherry candy dominates the finish. At great peril, it reminds me of a Double Diamond Bomber X that I had years ago. Very different profile from when I first tried this. (1356 views)
Tasted by guitarguy on 10/31/2019 & rated 90 points: About as good as this has been, ashy, blueberry, smooth tannins and still some acidity to make it interesting. But drink now I think. (1432 views)
Tasted by KO'Grady on 8/2/2019 & rated 89 points: Drank too late (1296 views)
Tasted by ocfriday on 2/13/2019 & rated 89 points: A lot of fruit up front with a soft finish. Not aging any, so drink up. (1462 views)
Tasted by Ed B on 12/18/2018 & rated 89 points: Splash decanted for 15 minutes and drank over next 2 hours. Not very exciting. Fruity with a little spice. Nothing complex. More like an OK Zin than a great Cab. (1521 views)
Tasted by guitarguy on 10/3/2018 & rated 87 points: Rather simplistic with straightforward cassis and blue fruit notes, moderate tannins and meh. (1421 views)
Tasted by David_T on 4/10/2018 & rated 88 points: Similar currant/cocoa/earth notes to my last bottle, the light structural elements have completely integrated. Drink now. Five years after my first bottle, eight years after the vintage, my last bottle and overall a completely average and overpriced Napa cab. (1726 views)
(1641 views)
Tasted by BMorelli on 12/20/2017 & rated 90 points: Really nice and balanced. Dark fruit with a nice finish. Drinking really smoothly now. (1469 views)
Tasted by t0pshelf on 12/4/2017: A bit rough around the edges, but there's plenty going on to make it interesting. Fruit forward but some darker elements as well (minerality, leather) which suggest this will improve with time. Not hugely tannic but enough so that I think I'll let bottle #2 sit for quite a while before giving it another go. (1407 views)
Tasted by Senso-beak on 6/9/2017 & rated 90 points: Opened alongside a '99 Solengo for contrast. Lost some of the jam and baby fat, but offering up a thick, dark fruit profile that's round and chubby. Some slight secondary maturity notes showing, such as licorice and leather. With more air, blue fruits predominate, with iron, blueberry and tangy orange notes. Definitely mature, and should be imbibed soon. (1872 views)
Tasted by guitarguy on 12/6/2016 & rated 89 points: Continues to be a moderate Cabernet with nothing to recommend the $40 price tag. (2075 views)
Tasted by ravbik on 12/4/2016 & rated 89 points: More complex spice and earth notes are appearing as the overly sweet ripe red fruits are fading (1886 views)
Tasted by guitarguy on 10/13/2016 & rated 84 points: Muted and stunted, only slight better day 2. I'm drinking these soon and I've avoided new releases. Not a good value. (2017 views)
Tasted by guitarguy on 8/27/2016 & rated 87 points: Not a thinker, pleasant enough and easy to drink but it won't be winning any awards or causing you to think much and definitely overpriced. (2163 views)
Tasted by levinml on 7/13/2016 & rated 90 points: Good, balanced, middle of the road cab, drinking at a good place right now. Nothing special, and may be overpriced at $40, but pleasant enough drinking. (1980 views)

Cabernet Sauvignon

Cabernet Sauvignon is probably the most famous red wine grape variety on Earth. It is rivaled in this regard only by its Bordeaux stablemate Merlot, and its opposite number in Burgundy, Pinot Noir. From its origins in Bordeaux, Cabernet has successfully spread to almost every winegrowing country in the world. It is now the key grape variety in many first-rate New World wine regions, most notably Napa Valley, Coonawarra and Maipo Valley. Wherever they come from, Cabernet Sauvignon wines always seem to demonstrate a handful of common character traits: deep color, good tannin structure, moderate acidity and aromas of blackcurrant, tomato leaf, dark spices and cedarwood.

Used as frequently in blends as in varietal wines, Cabernet Sauvignon has a large number of common blending partners. Apart from the obvious Merlot and Cabernet Franc, the most prevalent of these are Malbec, Petit Verdot and Carmenere (the ingredients of a classic Bordeaux Blend), Shiraz (in Australia's favorite blend) and in Spain and South America, a Cabernet – Tempranillo blend is now commonplace. Even the bold Tannat-based wines of Madiran are now generally softened with Cabernet Sauvignon

USA

American wine has been produced since the 1500s, with the first widespread production beginning in New Mexico in 1628. Today, wine production is undertaken in all fifty states, with California producing 84% of all U.S. wine. The continent of North America is home to several native species of grape, including Vitis labrusca, Vitis riparia, Vitis rotundifolia, and Vitis vulpina, but the wine-making industry is based almost entirely on the cultivation of the European Vitis vinifera, which was introduced by European settlers. With more than 1,100,000 acres (4,500 km2) under vine, the United States is the fourth-largest wine producing country in the world, after Italy, Spain, and France.

2021 vintage: "Unlike almost all other areas of the state, the Russian River Valley had higher than normal crops in 2021, which has made for a wine of greater generosity and fruit forwardness than some of its stablemates." - Morgan Twain-Peterson
