Tasted by Anna@WineCellar on 2/5/2023 & rated 90 points: Red with a tiny brownish edge, high intensity. Developed to mature nose, medium intensity. Integrated, concentration, black currant, oak with vanilla touch. On the palate a slight sweetness, medium(+) acidity, medium(+) small tannins, full bodied, 14,5%. Intensive, fruit driven. Black currant, oak, mint. Power. Thick and chewy. Very good length.
Drink over three days, calms down in its power day two and three. (701 views)
Tasted by Psdycp on 9/23/2020 & rated 89 points: Fragrant and complex bouquet of cigar box and cassis on the top note, dried herbs and dark chocolate in the middle layer with prominent earthy nuance in the base. This is less fruit driven than others from the same region, more towards the Bordeaux traits. Nose is opened and balanced within minutes in the glass. Palate echoed the notes in the nose, with hints of smoked plumminess in the mid palate. Good grip from entry to finish, just lacking some definition and layering. Close to full-body with a big structure that has some bite at the edges. There is a step down of concentration as it transits from mid-palate to finish, which is disappointing. However, the smoked cigar and herbs linger at the back of the throat for a while. Good nose but the same impression did not follow through to the palate which is somewhat inconsistent. Ready to drink now without decanting. It should hold very well for the next few years. (2371 views)
Tasted by timbobwhite on 4/18/2020 & rated 90 points: Last bottle. Followed this from release. First taste in 2012 was hard, tannic with a classic fruit profile in background. It remains hard with one of the most austere fruit profiles I've seen in a Mondavi Napa. Some fruit but more vegetal and hard - not flawed. Very good, but not a typical vintage for Mondavi. Score reflects more my taste and expectation. This is holding well and has a long life ahead. (2594 views)
Tasted by Pegadude on 2/8/2020 & rated 90 points: Very nice napa cab. Rich with strong flavours. Mature. (2720 views)
Tasted by jayrod on 7/20/2019 & rated 90 points: Very nice Cab, still has some life in front of it. (3238 views)
Tasted by tonorc on 6/30/2019 & rated 86 points: Probably kept it too long - past its prime (2733 views)
Tasted by timbobwhite on 10/28/2018: Decanted for 2-1/2 hours. Some coarse, some fine sediment. No notes taken. Some cherry, currants on the nose. Tannins and acids in check now. In a good place now, needed some air, but maybe not so much. Will try next bottle at about 1 hour as this had a much more forward nose when opened. (1828 views)
Tasted by vino_Kaz on 6/22/2018 & rated 91 points: Crisp Cabernet fruit, dry, really nice with notes of rose petal and blueberry. No sign of excess age yet. (2194 views)
Tasted by timbobwhite on 3/19/2017 & rated 93 points: 83% Cabernet, 12% Merlot, 4% Cab Franc, 1% Syrah. Double decanted 2 hours. Nose of tart cherries at first. At 2 hrs. nose muted, currants, barnyard, licorice. Taste more expressive than nose. Tart cherries, licorice to start. Later a well balanced, earthy (esp. for Mondavi) well balanced cab. Med finish that lingers well. As time goes on (3-4 hours), this gets better and better. Nose gets deeper, more earthy, more perfumed. Flavors become more pronounced and rich. Finish gets longer. This one need more time in cellar and/or at least 3 hours in the decanter to start. Any that you drink before the third hour will be a waste of what this has to offer. This will drink well now with air, or let them rest another 7 or more years in the cellar. A keeper! Glad I have 3 more bottles. (4385 views)
Tasted by JHuseby1 on 1/27/2017 & rated 90 points: Mature, but still drinking well. Plenty of classic California fruit and mellowed tannins. Very enjoyable. (4354 views)
Tasted by PMJak11 on 1/14/2017 & rated 94 points: Wasn't expecting much, but just proves you don't mess with Mondavi! Deep flavors of cherry and blackberry with a very smooth finish that just coats the palate. I'm in awe right now, well done Robert! Sorry to everyone who drank this years ago, the age did wonders! (4010 views)
Tasted by Zingrrl on 1/12/2016 & rated 87 points: Good. Better on day 2. Bricky cherry on the nose. Dark berry, cherry liqueur, resolved tannins and a good finish. This is in a prime window and should be drunk over the next year or so. (6264 views)
Tasted by Jchmsp on 12/25/2015: Good (5690 views)
Tasted by arnabbag61 on 9/24/2015 & rated 84 points: The wine has medium acidity. It smells like sherry, tobacco, eucalyptus, mineral and vanilla. The body is medium. The wine finishes short. It tastes like almond, molasses, apple, tobacco, melon and mineral. The wine looks crimson colored. The legs are fast. There is light sediment in the bottle. The wine has smooth texture. (4097 views)
Tasted by bryon m on 9/8/2015 & rated 90 points: Drank at Hockey Tournament with parents. Enjoyable, nothing really to note other than a good value and the wine held up well. (604 views)
Tasted by Lakefarm on 6/23/2015 & rated 89 points: Nose of cassis, blackberries, cherry liqueur and oak. Full bodied on the palate with medium(+) acidity to balance the sweet fruit. Nice, approachable and food friendly Napa. (4322 views)
Tasted by RobertB321 on 5/30/2015 & rated 89 points: An above average wine. Good balance. Dark fruit aromas and flavors. Decent finish. (4577 views)

Tasted by Dan & Krista Stockman on 2/9/2015 & rated 89 points: Not a Napa powerhouse, much more refined and subtle than expected, with a touch of minerals. (2640 views)
Tasted by corkscrews on 12/26/2014 & rated 86 points: A nose of some dark fruit and spice, dark garnet in color. A medium to full bodied Cab, with blackberry, cassis, some chocolate and spice on finish. There are better values out there, nothing special. www.winelx.com (2533 views)
Tasted by Karin123 on 10/20/2014: Only one thing to say, both to beef and alone,.....very, very goog.

Tasted by gwkozar on 10/16/2014 & rated 87 points: POP. Had alongside 2011 earthquake cab. This was medium bodied, not complex especially next to earthquake. Fruity, some tannins. (2950 views)
Tasted by Sundbyberg on 10/13/2014 & rated 90 points: Neither with an abundance of fruit nor overly sweet. Balanced and harmoneus with nice fruit. Ready to drink. Actually rather european and an excellent altrrnative to a bordeaux, considering the price (32 usd). (3569 views)
Tasted by MoreWinePlease on 10/9/2014 & rated 89 points: Wow. This is quite different from what I'd become accustomed to and expected; more like Washington cab than Napa with bright fruit/acids lighter oak shadings and noticeable tannins in the finish instead of the oft dark cassis and caramel richness found, more often than not. Poured off half into a 375ml w/screw cap for later assessment. Inviting nose of pungent fruit notes w/sweet oak overtones. Let's see if it warrants a higher score with some time and air. (2567 views)

2010 Robert Mondavi Winery Cabernet Sauvignon Napa Valley

Winery Notes: A classic expression of Napa Valley Cabernet at its best: Remarkably rich and concentrated. Tantalizing entry - almost sweet with blackberry essence, it evolves into a plush, mouth filling compote of black fruit, beautifully integrated with woodsy and mineral notes, mocha, tobacco and clove. For all its volume the delivery is surprisingly fresh and supple, with a long, mocha-infused finish.

Cabernet Sauvignon

Cabernet Sauvignon is probably the most famous red wine grape variety on Earth. It is rivaled in this regard only by its Bordeaux stablemate Merlot, and its opposite number in Burgundy, Pinot Noir. From its origins in Bordeaux, Cabernet has successfully spread to almost every winegrowing country in the world. It is now the key grape variety in many first-rate New World wine regions, most notably Napa Valley, Coonawarra and Maipo Valley. Wherever they come from, Cabernet Sauvignon wines always seem to demonstrate a handful of common character traits: deep color, good tannin structure, moderate acidity and aromas of blackcurrant, tomato leaf, dark spices and cedarwood.

Used as frequently in blends as in varietal wines, Cabernet Sauvignon has a large number of common blending partners. Apart from the obvious Merlot and Cabernet Franc, the most prevalent of these are Malbec, Petit Verdot and Carmenere (the ingredients of a classic Bordeaux Blend), Shiraz (in Australia's favorite blend) and in Spain and South America, a Cabernet – Tempranillo blend is now commonplace. Even the bold Tannat-based wines of Madiran are now generally softened with Cabernet Sauvignon

USA

American wine has been produced since the 1500s, with the first widespread production beginning in New Mexico in 1628. Today, wine production is undertaken in all fifty states, with California producing 84% of all U.S. wine. The continent of North America is home to several native species of grape, including Vitis labrusca, Vitis riparia, Vitis rotundifolia, and Vitis vulpina, but the wine-making industry is based almost entirely on the cultivation of the European Vitis vinifera, which was introduced by European settlers. With more than 1,100,000 acres (4,500 km2) under vine, the United States is the fourth-largest wine producing country in the world, after Italy, Spain, and France.

California

2021 vintage: "Unlike almost all other areas of the state, the Russian River Valley had higher than normal crops in 2021, which has made for a wine of greater generosity and fruit forwardness than some of its stablemates." - Morgan Twain-Peterson
