| Community Tasting Notes (average 86.1 pts. and median of 86 pts. in 9 notes) - hiding notes with no text | | Tasted by TexasBob on 3/17/2009 & rated 89 points: Well-constructed, a little sweeter than I like but not sweet for a Zinfandel. (2698 views) | | Tasted by phandel on 11/21/2007 & rated 86 points: Argh, this has really lost its character over the last few years. No more of that mysterious honeycomb nose and flavor that inspired the multiple-bottle purchase many years ago :-( This wine is definitely over the hill :-( (2977 views) | | Tasted by winemaker on 7/3/2007 flawed bottle: Corked! (3070 views) | | Tasted by yhn on 3/26/2007 & rated 84 points: Nice fruit, but the heat and green tannins drag it down a bit. (3346 views) | | Tasted by corey on 11/5/2006 & rated 84 points: Good nose promises fruit. Overall, though, somewhat lacking in integration. Tannins are soft, there's still fruit, but some sour notes and a so-so finish make this a decent everyday wine but not something you'd want to serve to guests. (3354 views) | | Tasted by tmay on 10/1/2006 & rated 86 points: Cherry cola. Still a lot of fruit but disjointed. Short finish. (1513 views) | | Tasted by Colima74 on 5/28/2006 & rated 88 points: seemed a bit rough and disjointed on opening.. but then Sibonay and I don't know who else polished the bottle off before I could get another taste!! So, I'm guessing it was ok.. since it disappeared...had at chiles rellenos cooking fest (1772 views) | | Tasted by jayhawker on 7/3/2005 & rated 86 points: I was worried this might be past it's prime. Well it might be, but it was pleasant nonetheless. A real nice perfumed nose of black cherries, floral notes, lead pencil, and dare I say cotton candy? On the palate are rasberries and cherries, a bit sour, with nice crisp acidity and a relatively short finish. If it didn't smell so nice, it'd be low 80's. (1814 views) | | Tasted by veniceslug1 on 5/30/2005 & rated 87 points: Light pleasant quaffer. Notes of both dark and sour cherries. But not a lot going on. A dissapointment for a Ridge wine. Today, wine production is undertaken in all fifty states, with California producing 84% of all U.S. wine. The continent of North America is home to several native species of grape, including Vitis labrusca, Vitis riparia, Vitis rotundifolia, and Vitis vulpina, but the wine-making industry is based almost entirely on the cultivation of the European Vitis vinifera, which was introduced by European settlers. With more than 1,100,000 acres (4,500 km2) under vine, the United States is the fourth-largest wine producing country in the world, after Italy, Spain, and France.California2021 vintage: "Unlike almost all other areas of the state, the Russian River Valley had higher than normal crops in 2021, which has made for a wine of greater generosity and fruit forwardness than some of its stablemates." - Morgan Twain-Peterson Sonoma CountyMendocino CountySonoma CountySonoma Coast |
