Tasted by a.gunnarsson@ymail.com on 10/21/2023 & rated 90 points: Wait another 5+ years (543 views)
Tasted by souveriw on 8/19/2023 & rated 85 points: Very solid. Medium bodied. Nose of dark fruit - cassis, blackberry, black currant - oak, leather and a touch of cigar. Maybe lacks a bit of complexity on the palate but very long and well balanced (593 views)
Tasted by ETT95 on 3/9/2023 & rated 90 points: Ruby. Closed but young. Medium bodied. Oak, black plum, red cherry, chocolate, slight hint of aging on palate. Well balanced. Tannic. Plenty of time ahead. May score higher when it opens up. (1454 views)
Tasted by Steynor on 10/3/2022: TWS: Consistently splendid claret with full-bodies, well-structured flavour, and considerable finesse. (1932 views)
Tasted by ccn on 7/29/2022 & rated 89 points: Nose is of crushed cassis. Still closed but approachable with food. Wait 5-10 years. (2108 views)
Tasted by La Grappe on 3/5/2022 & rated 88 points: Quite soft, medium weight claret, with blackcurrant fruit; perhaps lacking definition, but well rounded. A decent wine from a modest vintage, but not really worth the £32 paid. (1985 views)
Tasted by La Grappe on 10/16/2021 & rated 89 points: Text book claret, soft, appealing, medium weight and drinking well now. Not an exceptional wine, but perfectly acceptable. Having said that, at £32 the QPR is on the low side. (2326 views)
Tasted by La Grappe on 8/28/2021 & rated 89 points: A fairly deep colour; medium weight, with blackcurrant fruit and a slightly dusty character, perhaps a touch rustic. An attractive claret, slightly dilute on the finish, but good for current and future drinking. (2019 views)
Tasted by Cf_robert on 7/18/2021 & rated 89 points: Drinkable at the moment but will be much better in 2-3 years (1776 views)
Tasted by Joshuapeterwineadventures on 11/21/2020 & rated 92 points: Appearence:
Clear, Intensity: Deep, Color: Ruby, Rim: Lighter, Core: Intense, Viscosity: Medium(+).

Nose:
Clean, Intensity: Pronounced, Aromas of: Tabacco, Fallen leaves, Blackcurrants, Mushroom, Truffle, Violets, Cherry, Dark Chocolate, Charred wood and hints of Blackcurrant Jam.
Development: Developed

Palate:
Sweetness: Dry, Acidity: Medium, Tannins: Medium(+ & fine structured), Alcohol: Medium, Body: Full, Flavor intensity: Pronounced, Aromas of: Truffle, Undergrowth, Tabacco leaf, Sweet Cherry, Dried Violets and Charred wood. Finish: Medium

In Conclusion: A classic 2012, sample of a Medoc Blend. Drink now - 2025. (2364 views)
Tasted by PMJak11 on 10/29/2020 & rated 91 points: Half bottle. Lovely nose of apple cores and flowers. Wine is somewhat astringent and full of apples and dirt. Oddly enough it is somewhat chewy in the mouth. Medium finish. Starts off nicely and then becomes strange and tart. Can’t argue with the £20 price. (2087 views)
Tasted by curtr on 3/21/2020: Developed, balanced, room to improve, yet nice now. Now-2030 (2518 views)
Tasted by ttholst on 8/18/2019 & rated 90 points: God claret. God, elegant balanse men mangler litt konsentrasjon. God lengde. (3163 views)
Tasted by Neuneuil on 8/7/2019 & rated 91 points: Very nice claret, with a beautiful lunch @ Lion d’or, Arcins en Medoc (2887 views)
Tasted by GuWin on 6/2/2018 & rated 87 points: Dark ruby. Medium intensity on the nose with blackberries, blackcurrants, pepper and a touch of cedar. Slightly developed with medium dark fruit, fine acidity and a nice tannic grip. Lacking some concentration and a bit "hollow", but this is a pleasant bordeaux that's drinking just fine now. (4002 views)
Tasted by Psdycp on 1/13/2018 & rated 88 points: Rich aroma of blue and black fruits with roasted bell pepper, violet and cinnamon. The flavors from the nose are carried through the palate. Good balance of acidity, fruits and tannins in the structure. Approachable wine for most to enjoy. Not much breathing required for the wine to open up.

Retasted in Aug 2018, the nose has developed grilled meat and deeper earthy aroma while the palate remain largely the same with just a touch deeper finish. This should continue to evolve and provide good drinking window for another 3-5 years.

To increase by one point from 87 to 88 pts. (3961 views)
Tasted by Le Gaulois on 10/7/2017 & rated 90 points: Très bon, un coup de carafe et prêt à boire! (3858 views)
Tasted by avp on 3/31/2017: Cassis and chokeberry on the fairly open and youthful nose with some dusty cedar, beans, tobacco and almost medicinal licorice notes that I associate with PV.
Medium bodied, meaty and cool on the palate with a healthy bite of ripe tannins. The dusty oak seems a bit too obvious, but with a bit of time in the decanter the wine comes together rather nicely. Bold and quite dark toned fruit, but elegantly cool and silky on the back-end palate. Good length. This will no doubt turn out very well, but I wanted to pop open a bottle of youngish Bordeaux. I'm happy I did. This was very nice, after been given some air. (4120 views)
Tasted by kamecki on 1/16/2017 & rated 93 points: Wymaga czasu, le village, paryz. Zadatki na gran cru classe. Lekki tyton (3920 views)
Tasted by broadband013 on 9/5/2016 & rated 89 points: Sympa sans plus (3321 views)
Tasted by purevar1etals on 1/14/2016 & rated 90 points: This wine has retained a deep purple colour, with lovely notes of blackcurrant, vanilla, cinnamon, cedarwood, and forest floor on the nose. The body shows that it is still somewhat raw, with med+ acidity, high tannin, med+ body that is looking to smoothen out over a couple more years. The finish is long. I think I committed infanticide with this bottle: it will develop some lovely tertiary notes with age. (2443 views)
Tasted by Kris G on 11/29/2015 & rated 87 points: the raise in quality isn't following at the same rate as the increasing prices for this château (3800 views)
Tasted by vintage_whine on 10/20/2015: Black fruit, chocolate, massively floral in the purple range. moderate oak notes on the nose though fruit still takes center stage on the palate. young and elegant, showing 50% merlot in this vintage, especially on the tannins and acid. (3180 views)
Tasted by Timbalimba on 10/11/2015 & rated 89 points: Meaty, dusty, still young and unresolved. 89+, needs time. (3140 views)
Tasted by Omar Khayyam on 9/6/2015: Bordeaux 2014 en primeur with Winefinder (Munchenbryggeriet, Stockholm): more on the elegant, structured side, sloeberries, similar to 2014 very berry driven and pure in this regard, but also some bitterness from the new oak used. maybe they should pipe down some on the oak regime in general for the kind of fruit they seem to have? Red Bordeaux Blend

Red Bordeaux is generally made from a blend of grapes. Permitted grapes are Cabernet Sauvignon, Cabernet Franc, Merlot, Petit Verdot, Malbec and rarely Carménère.Today Carménère is rarely used, with Château Clerc Milon, a fifth growth Bordeaux, being one of the few to still retain Carménère vines. As of July 2019, Bordeaux wineries authorized the use of four new red grapes to combat temperature increases in Bordeaux. These newly approved grapes are Marselan, Touriga Nacional, Castets, and Arinarnoa.

Wineries all over the world aspire to making wines in a Bordeaux style. In 1988, a group of American vintners formed The Meritage Association to identify wines made in this way. Although most Meritage wines come from California, there are members of the Meritage Association in 18 states and five other countries, including Argentina, Australia, Canada, Israel, and Mexico.

History of Bordeaux

History of 1855 Bordeaux Classification

"2009 is all about ripeness, with wines impressively packed with ripe fruit and high alcohol levels. They are showy, in-your-face, and full of pleasure. The 2010s have the fruit and alcohol levels of the 2009s, but with a compelling freshness on the finish that balances the fruit and provides a perfect sense of structure." - Ben Nelson

"2016 is a landmark vintage in certain spots of Bordeaux and it should be remembered as one of the most inspired campaigns of the last 40-50+ years." -Jon Rimmerman
"The quality of red Bordeaux in 2016 was universally lauded – although the response to the en primeur campaign was muted. Quantity was high too, with the equivalent of 770 million bottles of wine produced. An exceptionally dry summer with cool nights eventually, thanks to mid September rain, resulted in small, thick-skinned, ripe grapes, and the wines are marked by high tannin and acidity, with superb aromatic fragrance." - Jancis Robinson

"2017 was complicated, but there are some excellent wines. Expect plenty of freshness and drinkability from wines that will offer excellent value, and others that will rival 2016 in terms of ripeness and ageability. But they are likely to be the exception not the rule, making careful selection key." - Jane Anson

"In the past, a vintage such as 2022 may have been overripe, raisined and low in acidity but 2022 had a sneaky little reservoir in its back pocket - a near perfect marriage of cool/cold/rain the previous winter and the previous vintage that literally soaked the soils (a key to why 2022 is not 2003...or 1893)." - Jon Rimmerman

VdB

The eight precisely defined appellations of the whole of the Médoc (from Blanquefort Brook to the north of the Bordeaux built-up area, almost to the Pointe de Grave) may claim the Médoc appellation. But there is also a specific territory in the north of the peninsula which produces exclusively wines with this appellation. In the great majority, the Médocs come from the north of the peninsula. The great individuality of this region is that the number of vines has increased more recently here than elsewhere, apart from a few isolated spots where vines have grown for many years. Today, the size of the small estate has brought about the development of a powerful co-operative movement. Four co-operatives out of five belong to the group called Unimédoc which ensures aging, bottling and marketing a large proportion of their wines.
