Community Tasting History

Community Tasting Notes (average 90.3 pts. and median of 90 pts. in 12 notes) - hiding notes with no text

Tasted by TannicBeast on 6/17/2017 & rated 89 points: Medium (+) ruby with a garnet rim. The nose is clean, but a little closed, with aromas of ripe black cherries, stewed prunes, tobacco , tea and earth. The nose is developing (+). The palate is dry. Medium (+) tannins, high alcohol (14.5%) and medium acidity. Medium (+) body and flavor intensity with a medium (+), slightly bitter finish. The palate is consistent with the nose. This wine is still pretty nice, but - compared to my 2014 tasting note - it seems that the structure and alcohol is outlasting the fruit. Drink now, as it is not likely to improve with further aging. P.S. Probably would benefit from a decant, as a fair amount of sediment is coming through the Coravin. (1460 views)
Tasted by Vinomane on 1/29/2015 & rated 90 points: If tasted blind, I would guess this a mid-grade Brunello: not bad for a wild card from Sardinia. Very competent on all axes. A food wine, certainly, but a serviceable one which, unlike those overpriced, overhyped Brunellos, comes in for exactly what it's worth. (3700 views)
Tasted by Dale Rattles on 11/22/2014 & rated 90 points: Very rich nose, soft mouthfeel and integrated tannins with a touch of heat. Good fruit, balanced acidity and medium long finish. Based on the nose and initial attack, I expected more midway through and beyond to have this be a crusher of a wine. A quite nice glass but just not "all the way" there. (3698 views)
Tasted by TannicBeast on 11/22/2014 & rated 90 points: A compelling blend of carignane and syrah, this big red is just now coming into its optimal drinking window. Black cherries, sweet spice, tobacco, tar and licorice. Medium (+) tannins and alcohol at 14.5%. Medium acidity. Medium (+) body and flavor intensity with a medium (+) to long finish. Very enjoyable now but likely to last for several years. (3723 views)
Tasted by wbq8f on 11/15/2014 & rated 92 points: Dark, intense red/black fruit flavors, somewhat sweet, but not cloyingly so; a bit of tar, long, interesting finish. Try with Stilton, and you will get apricot and strawberry flavors. Still tastes young. (4004 views)
Tasted by THECORKDORK on 7/20/2014 & rated 90 points: Sight: Deep Ruby
Nose: Black Cherry, Blackberry, Black Pepper
Palate: Full with dusty tannins. Black fruits, Black peppercorn. (2992 views)
Tasted by yofog on 6/20/2014 & rated 90 points: Big, rusty, and surprisingly grippy and old-school in its profile, which I wasn't expecting considering the Syrah additon. Works really well, though there's a lot of heat on it and the mustiness is a little overpowering, too. (1287 views)
Tasted by Amjn on 6/4/2014 & rated 92 points: Let this one open up and you will be rewarded with a polished and gripping wine. Matured with care in small, fine grained mixed use french oak for 12 months. Shardana is a carignan based wine with only a touch of syrah which adds a surprising amount of depth. Baking spice, steamed cedar and rich cherries on the nose. Ripe black cherries form a seductive body met with old fashioned liquorice, subtle cigar smoke, and baroloesque tar. A long seductive finish that keeps going. (1182 views)
Tasted by rjonwine@gmail.com on 2/7/2013 & rated 92 points: Very dark red violet color; lifted, light VA, tart cranberry, dried berry nose; savory, tart cranberry, dried berry, light pepper palate with medium acidity; medium-plus finish (393 views)
