Community Tasting History

Community Tasting Notes (average 89.5 pts. and median of 90 pts. in 7 notes) - hiding notes with no text

Tasted by Mossrose on 3/18/2017 & rated 92 points: A nicely aged and unusually tasty Carignan from Sardenia, with a fine balance of fruit, acid, and tannin. The tannin is significantly less astringent and dusty, as well as softer and more rounded. The fruit now has a softer black plum, along with some blackberry. Overall, a Carignan that is as good as the best made in France. (32 views)
Tasted by Frijole on 1/25/2015: dark burgundy black, very cloudy, brown brickish hue, little clarity
Nose: cassis, orange, vanilla, cigars, clove, juniper, bay leaf, dirt, ceder, touch oak
Pal: cassis, orange, mustard, tar, leather, acetone, clove, dirt, cinnamon, spice, cedar, oak
Feel: full
Finish: medium/long
T8 (could be a 9) (1401 views)
Tasted by Lobonick on 11/12/2012 & rated 88 points: Rich and dark with lots of spices and stewed dark fruits. Might be just a bit cooked since I remember the previous bottle being much fresher and livelier. (1999 views)
Tasted by andtheodor on 5/27/2012 flawed bottle: Pruny, grape, smoke, tomato, VA nose. Strawberry jam and stewy fruit palate. Heat damaged? Ugh. (2243 views)
Tasted by Lobonick on 4/30/2011 & rated 92 points: Fantastic wine. Graphite and very dark licorice dominate and are downright enchanting. Loads of fruit in this very dark wine. Lovely floral nose, and a palate that lets the syrah tannins come through. Outstanding wine. (2533 views)
Tasted by nospeel on 10/31/2010 & rated 86 points: Tight upon opening. Floral (menthol?) nose. Rustic tannins, dense fruit. (2204 views)
Tasted by Frijole on 5/26/2008: dark iny plum, ruby brick hue, medium clarity
Nose: burnt cherries, mustard, thyme, juniper, clove, bay leaf
Pal: burnt cherries, mustard, tar, orange, almond, oak, leather
Feel: full, tannic
Finish: long
