Aromas of dark fruit, violets, chocolate, peppery spice; somewhat sleek and modern but with some earthy depth and not unattractive. Similar flavors, with surprisingly firm grippy tannins, and good acidity. Seems well done and a good value for its style (bought in 2017 for $19); not really my cup of tea, but enjoyable enough.
Day 2: somewhat improved; chocolate has mellowed a bit, everything is more cohesive, and as fresh and expressive as day 1. Still not loving it, but just a matter of preference. The nose plays to the higher register with very good depth as well.
Taste: Medium bodied with medium+ acidity and good supporting tannins. The feel is very pretty with plush tones of red fruits, spices, red cherries, and red florals.
Overall: This is a gorgeous Chianti Classico Riserva. This is fairly perfumed in nature with a nice and deft touch to it. (3076 views) |
