Tasted by andtheodor on 4/8/2019 & rated 91 points: Buttery, but lemon and a mineral cut gives some definition. (2268 views)
Tasted by Andydna on 12/25/2018 & rated 91 points: Delicious lemon curd. Very nice. (2013 views)
Tasted by StainedGlass on 11/27/2018 & rated 91 points: Lemon curd, just ripe pineapple, nice acidic streak and some minerality. Balanced Old World style. Still drinking well. 13.8% abv. (2147 views)
Tasted by galewskj on 6/10/2018 & rated 92 points: Chardonnay - White Burgundy vs the Rest of the World (Mike's House): I had this wine 3 years ago, and this bottle was 3 points better. Correlation? There is a fair amount of matchstick and sulfur on the nose, and even a bit on the palate. But the palate is dominated by golden fruit with some minerality. There is good balance here. This was the most interesting wine at the tasting. (2779 views)
Tasted by GoBlue2002 on 6/9/2018 & rated 92 points: Brought to a tasting.
This wine stood out from the others in the lineup as just more interesting and complex. Ripe yet with mineral, unusual for a Cali chardonnay. Definitely one of the group's favorites. (2485 views)
Tasted by SMagowan on 7/29/2017 & rated 92 points: Very nice 5 years in. Popped and poured and enjoyed with a 2015 Domaine Tempier Bandol Rose. It was a nice pairing; the Liquid Farm has gotten better with age and has a lot of structure and background. The smokiness it sometimes has is dissipated. Only fruit is present with only a hint of oak and butter. (2459 views)
Tasted by wiscgrad on 6/15/2017 & rated 91 points: not as great as the last bottle. more sweetness came thru and not as balanced. better as it warmed up (2473 views)
Tasted by Wine G on 4/7/2017: I am not a connoisseur of Chardonnay or whites, but this was not "rich" like others note here. More bright fruity springy, or cat-pissy", one might say... not buttery. Good luck. (2622 views)
Tasted by wiscgrad on 2/20/2017 & rated 94 points: First experience with LF and it was awesome. Now I know what all the Berserkers are taking about. Delicious. Just that simple. (2303 views)
Tasted by klezman on 1/29/2017: Creamy and delicious. Lemon curd and a richness that is right on to balance the acidity. This is in a great place.
With air, notes of butterscotch and vanilla emerge. Beautifully balanced, even with the oak influence being less subtle after it got the air. (3430 views)
Tasted by SMagowan on 7/10/2016 & rated 93 points: I am enjoying Liquid Farm Chardonnay a lot. First had it at a restaurant in NOLA a couple of months ago and it wowed me then. Have been able to score it closer to home now and the marine salt and minerality of the flavors raises this to a very Burgundian character. We drank with chilled lobster and shrimp and with part of our main course of beef tenderloin and it effortlessly paired with all the flavors. Drank really well side-by-side with a 2010 Booker Oublie, so it has some backbone for sure. (2574 views)
Tasted by bconly on 6/30/2016: First bottle in over 2 years. Acid has mellowed a bit and is in balance. Very good and harmonious central coast chard. Hopeful that the more recent vintages will end up in a similar place. (2481 views)
Tasted by Stumpy on 6/19/2016 & rated 91 points: Very tasty with oak nicely integrated and not noticeable. Very enjoyable if not overly serious. (2385 views)
Tasted by Fabrini on 6/5/2016 & rated 94 points: Really coming around. A bit of time in the cellar has mellowed this a touch so that razor sharp acidity is a bit rounded off. Refreshing marine notes, limestone. (2567 views)
Tasted by GoBlue2002 on 5/31/2016 & rated 92 points: So we wife tried this blind... couldn't put her finger on the varietal and locale (granted we typically drink oaky/buttery Cali chardonnay and other assorted white varietals), but she loved it - "unique but delicious".
This started at 47F and opened up / evolved over 2 hours of drinking/warming -- much more so than most chardonnays.
Stone fruit, tropical fruit, mineral, acidity, neutral/subtle oak -- leading to a lush long finish.
This paired amazingly well with shrimp & zucchini in a saffron tomato cream sauce -- a tough pairing.
This is not our typical style of Cali chardonnay but I get the hype... glad I have another bottle. (2394 views)
Tasted by Omar Khayyam on 5/19/2016 & rated 93 points: This was singing tonight! Perfect balance, full of fruit and creamy texture, but razor sharp acidity and very fresh. (2020 views)
Tasted by gmbdds on 5/7/2016 & rated 91 points: This was just as advertised: Clean, precise and acidic. Plenty of fruit keeps this far from austere. Could work well with or without food. (1805 views)
Tasted by kenhoeve on 4/26/2016 & rated 93 points: This gets your attention, much much better than the tight bottles I had some 2 years ago. At first blush a little ripe and rich but that doesn't last long at all. This has some pineapple and guava up front that quickly gives way to a very attractive funkiness, want to say reductive but it isn't that, somewhere between reductive and cheesy, and then some impressive floral character. The finish shines here, it goes on and on and it seems like the acid builds forever leaving you suddenly reaching for another sip but only seconds after thinking it was going to be a bit heavy! It's confusing. So while you start with this med-full bodied semi ripe deal, what you get is real length and real character. Super quality chard, needs just a bit more layering. (2284 views)
Tasted by Nanda on 4/9/2016 & rated 91 points: Drank over two nights. Note from night two. Medium-to-full nose has match stick, orchard fruit, light citrus zest, and rain water. Medium bodied on the palate with round, polished white fruit. Puckering zesty acidity immediately makes itself known and nicely counteracts the fruit. Fresh and lively. This has plenty of energy and tanginess with good depth of fruit and flavor. (1958 views)
Tasted by Isalasdad on 1/24/2016 & rated 93 points: This wine was crisp and complex. I tasted hints of apple, mineral and it had a long finish that ended with a buttery explosion. However, there really was no buttery taste up front, very complex. (2348 views)
Tasted by rama on 12/10/2015: medium yellow color. creme brule and pear on the nose. on the palate its crisp and tangy, though lacking the body I enjoyed in the Golden Slope. (2303 views)
Tasted by jmw17 on 12/1/2015: I fell hard for the 2011 WH and until now felt that the 2012 didn't measure up...was too rich and lacked the precision. But this bottle of the 12 was great. I only tasted this on day 2 after opening, but the baby fat was gone and it took me back to the LF of yore. Nice (2500 views)
Tasted by *Vine* on 9/26/2015: Popped and poured, light yellow/gold. Nose of lemon curd, stone fruits and light florals is tinged by a hint of petrol and reductive funk. Moderate-light body with moderate acidity. On the palate, this pleasant Chardonnay shows flavors of citrus, apples and a subtle impression of minerals. Although there isn't much complexity of flavor or structure, there's great transparency and the easygoing nature makes it quite charming.
Ready to go now and over the next 1-2 years.

Quick comment: After tasting a bottle of 2011 White Hill a few weeks ago it's pretty noticeable how much less distinctive the 2012 is in most every aspect. (2920 views)
Tasted by Jonathan T on 9/22/2015 & rated 90 points: The Liquid Farm White Hill has evolved since since release. I'm not sure if better or worse, but it's still just as intriguing, which is part of what makes wine fun. It has less of the bracing acidity and crisp minerality in its youth and has developed a little bit more lushness with some subtle oak peeking through, akin to warm butter on a baguette. Still a delicious pairing with lunch under the SoCal heat wave. (2717 views)
Tasted by Screameagle on 8/2/2015 & rated 92 points: A terrific chard that's drinking great right now. No reason to wait. I like the white hill bottling a lot and see no reason to purchase their high end wines. (2676 views)

The Chardonnay Grape

USA

American wine has been produced since the 1500s, with the first widespread production beginning in New Mexico in 1628. Today, wine production is undertaken in all fifty states, with California producing 84% of all U.S. wine. The continent of North America is home to several native species of grape, including Vitis labrusca, Vitis riparia, Vitis rotundifolia, and Vitis vulpina, but the wine-making industry is based almost entirely on the cultivation of the European Vitis vinifera, which was introduced by European settlers. With more than 1,100,000 acres (4,500 km2) under vine, the United States is the fourth-largest wine producing country in the world, after Italy, Spain, and France.
