Community Tasting Notes (average 91.5 pts. and median of 91 pts. in 4 notes) - hiding notes with no text

Tasted by brigcampbell on 4/1/2024: Solvang Bros and Hos (Solvang, CA): Not quite as edgy and acid driven as other vintages, but still very enjoyable. This is a combination of five vineyards. Predominately pair with medium acidity lime taking over mid palate. Very long finish. (374 views)
Tasted by jonahfactor on 3/22/2024: Chablis influenced, this begs for bacon-wrapped scallops or shrimp scampi. Whiffs of seashells, minerals and sea spray in the nose. Citrus zest, pineapple core and more minerals on the palate. Improves as it warms in the glass; so don’t serve straight out of the fridge. Another beautiful Liquid Farm Chardonnay. Drink 2025 to 2032. Worth Seeking Out. (178 views)
Tasted by JonnyG on 2/27/2024 & rated 92 points: A Diverse Set of Wines in Honor of a Visiting Friend (Los Olivos, CA): Outperformed expectations, with compact orchard fruit notes and a crisp salinity that evoked Chablis. A solid intro to local Chardonnay for our visiting guest. (385 views)
Tasted by air guitar & pinot noir on 1/20/2024 & rated 91 points: Not my favorite vintage of this one, but still a serviceable Chardonnay. Good acidity and citrus lift. Not as interesting from an overall flavor standpoint as others in the past. Solid but not exceptional. (325 views)

The Chardonnay Grape

USA

American wine has been produced since the 1500s, with the first widespread production beginning in New Mexico in 1628. Today, wine production is undertaken in all fifty states, with California producing 84% of all U.S. wine. The continent of North America is home to several native species of grape, including Vitis labrusca, Vitis riparia, Vitis rotundifolia, and Vitis vulpina, but the wine-making industry is based almost entirely on the cultivation of the European Vitis vinifera, which was introduced by European settlers. With more than 1,100,000 acres (4,500 km2) under vine, the United States is the fourth-largest wine producing country in the world, after Italy, Spain, and France.

2021 vintage: "Unlike almost all other areas of the state, the Russian River Valley had higher than normal crops in 2021, which has made for a wine of greater generosity and fruit forwardness than some of its stablemates." - Morgan Twain-Peterson
