Tasted by aveeck on 4/28/2022 & rated 92 points: Deep, rich, big, fruit-forward - lots of time left. (539 views)
Tasted by aveeck on 6/6/2020 & rated 89 points: This bottle was fine - I think 2013 was when they crossed the line from boutique to commercial-scale. (1042 views)
Tasted by PeterFromThePan on 12/10/2017 & rated 87 points: The previous bottle I opened a couple of years ago was too fruit forward and had too much residual sugar for me. Those characteristics have since mellowed out quite a bit. However the wine misses other components to make it interesting. Kind of forgettable, but ok for a weekday night with a meal. Not a bad QPR. This used to be around $20 before but have seen in lately for around $17. (2643 views)
Tasted by wine4me2 on 9/4/2017 & rated 89 points: A very nice drinking cab. Everything has come together in balance to make this a great drinker at this price point. I recommend it highly. (3178 views)
Tasted by Z1nnfull on 5/29/2017 & rated 87 points: Same as prior notes. A fully-extracted Cab. (3651 views)
Tasted by Z1nnfull on 1/1/2017 & rated 87 points: Same notes as 5/27/15:
This Cab had a surprising depth to it you don't see with most Central Coast Cabs. We first tried it at Hahn's tasting room in Monterey County. It is rather robust and fruit forward, would be good with spicy or grilled fare. We found it locally at $17.99, which is a good bargain for a wine of this quality. Should even improve with time, but approachable now. Believe it is made by or in association with Hahn vineyards of Monterey County, thus the quality for the price. (4101 views)
Tasted by pfisher17 on 11/11/2016 & rated 89 points: A good wine but lacked true complexity. Needed a lot of time in the decanter. But I think 4 hrs + would have benefited this wine substantially. Good nose and oak. Tannins need to mellow. (4088 views)
Tasted by tadams66 on 10/16/2016 & rated 86 points: Too over ripe. Need to have this with some kind of steak or sausage. I think a couple of years will help this wine. It was much better on the second day. (2938 views)
Tasted by apipays on 8/1/2016 & rated 93 points: Really enjoyed, (2979 views)
Tasted by mzmijewski on 5/26/2016 & rated 87 points: Excellent oak on nose. Deep purple color. Could use more tannins to balance it out. (3032 views)
Tasted by tadams66 on 5/14/2016 & rated 88 points: solid wine but a little over extracted which covered up the structure. (2382 views)
Tasted by Jobu on 5/8/2016 & rated 90 points: Ripe blueberry and blackberry with some peppery spice. Better than the '12, but still needs a bit more structure. For the $15-20 range it's a really an enjoyable Cab. I gave the '12 an 89, so this gets bumped up a little. Probably overrated the '12, still this is better and the 89/90 is justified especially factoring in the price. Good for grilling season. (2190 views)
Tasted by rjonwine@gmail.com on 5/6/2016 & rated 86 points: Saturated, very dark red violet color; chocolate, coffee, dried fig nose; black fruit, coffee, chocolate palate with some balancing acidity; could use 1 year; medium finish (84% Cabernet Sauvignon, 9% Malbec, 7% Merlot; 14.8% alcohol; 40% new French oak) 86+ points (431 views)
Tasted by Plusvini on 5/4/2016 & rated 86 points: Big smooth wine with lots of blueberry notes. Not a lot of acid or tannin in this bottle to balance all that fruit. A pleasant crowd pleaser to be sure, but not my style. (2116 views)
Tasted by pbd1978 on 3/27/2016 & rated 89 points: red fruit, bit tannic on the palate. improves when open. finish is medium / long. definitely a great wine with lamb / pulled beef. (2159 views)
Tasted by bemeyer on 3/26/2016: Improves, with 1 hour decant. Noc er ly balanced medium body witj subdued fruit. (1507 views)
Tasted by BrunelloBob on 3/21/2016 & rated 87 points: Noticeably better on day 2, but very straight-forward and a bit over-tannic. (1543 views)
Tasted by Superoreo on 2/6/2016 & rated 88 points: Very jammy- decent finish (2123 views)
Tasted by jdrs21 on 1/25/2016: Not bad, not great (2034 views)

Tasted by jeffm_fla on 12/15/2015 & rated 90 points: Very good California Cab. A bit more structure than is usual outside of Napa. Great QPR - a pleasant surprise that I discovered at one of my favorite restaurants. (Valentino's in Ft. Lauderdale) (2112 views)
Tasted by yankeebatts on 9/30/2015 & rated 82 points: Great drink now Cab. Well balanced but still a big red. (2482 views)

Cabernet Sauvignon

Cabernet Sauvignon is probably the most famous red wine grape variety on Earth. It is rivaled in this regard only by its Bordeaux stablemate Merlot, and its opposite number in Burgundy, Pinot Noir. From its origins in Bordeaux, Cabernet has successfully spread to almost every winegrowing country in the world. It is now the key grape variety in many first-rate New World wine regions, most notably Napa Valley, Coonawarra and Maipo Valley. Wherever they come from, Cabernet Sauvignon wines always seem to demonstrate a handful of common character traits: deep color, good tannin structure, moderate acidity and aromas of blackcurrant, tomato leaf, dark spices and cedarwood.

Used as frequently in blends as in varietal wines, Cabernet Sauvignon has a large number of common blending partners. Apart from the obvious Merlot and Cabernet Franc, the most prevalent of these are Malbec, Petit Verdot and Carmenere (the ingredients of a classic Bordeaux Blend), Shiraz (in Australia's favorite blend) and in Spain and South America, a Cabernet – Tempranillo blend is now commonplace. Even the bold Tannat-based wines of Madiran are now generally softened with Cabernet Sauvignon

USA

American wine has been produced since the 1500s, with the first widespread production beginning in New Mexico in 1628. Today, wine production is undertaken in all fifty states, with California producing 84% of all U.S. wine. The continent of North America is home to several native species of grape, including Vitis labrusca, Vitis riparia, Vitis rotundifolia, and Vitis vulpina, but the wine-making industry is based almost entirely on the cultivation of the European Vitis vinifera, which was introduced by European settlers. With more than 1,100,000 acres (4,500 km2) under vine, the United States is the fourth-largest wine producing country in the world, after Italy, Spain, and France.

2021 vintage: "Unlike almost all other areas of the state, the Russian River Valley had higher than normal crops in 2021, which has made for a wine of greater generosity and fruit forwardness than some of its stablemates." - Morgan Twain-Peterson
