Community Tasting History

Community Tasting Notes (average 90.4 pts. and median of 90 pts. in 41 notes) - hiding notes with no text

Tasted by csimm on 7/27/2023 & rated 91 points: Giuseppe's (Scottsdale, AZ): Quite advanced and a bit oxidative, which is possibly reflective and a manifestation of the warm vintage, but not without requisite freshness. There is just enough acidity to hold the deeply pitched grilled lemon and bruised citrus flavors in proper focus; an additional butterscotch note adds interest, dimension, and depth, but also intensifies the sense of an more-aged bottle. For my tastes, and even though I’m not completely confident this still doesn’t have some further integrating to do, I would drink sooner than later. (2109 views)
Tasted by I'd Rather Be Drinking Wine on 6/21/2023 & rated 91 points: Another Grand Tasting in Arizona! (Guiseppe's in Scottsdale): PnP - A very nice Chardonnay from Burgundy. A very nice wine that started off our tasting. I actually enjoyed this wine a lot, and had a couple pours. It showed citrus and seashell notes on the nose, and plenty of rich, creamy, buttery notes on the palate, coupled with lemon custard, and minerality in the form of oysters and chalk. The sweet toasted oak also was present, and not yet fully integrated, but also not detracting from the wine. A lovely white Burgundy! 91+ for my palate and thoroughly enjoyable! (990 views)
Tasted by acyso on 11/6/2022 & rated 93 points: C+K's housewarming party (Chicago, IL): Outstanding village-level chardonnay that shows plenty of noble reduction, but also a kiss of oak. Good richness and depth on the palate, without going overboard on the oak. Clearly the product of a ripe and fat vintage, but these are holding up just so well. Yet another bottle that confirms to me how magnificent the 2015 white Burgundy vintage is. (1665 views)
Tasted by Lehto on 7/9/2022 & rated 93 points: Man I just love Chassagne... And for a village level 2015 this really was top tier!

So much great tension on the nose with popcorn kernels being roasted in butter, mazarin cake, ripe orchard fruits and some citrus fruits sneaking through as well.

The ripe fruit of 2015 was definitely the main factor of the palate with apple, peach, tropical fruits and some pickled lemon. There was also a touch of the mazarin cake again a bit of clove/baking spices. But unlike the Dauvissat from 2015 this had such an alluring acidity from ripe but not overripe citrus fruits and a slight green apple touch while still having the balance and weight and creamy texture and a very long-lasting finish.  Tasted by MJReb on 5/10/2022 & rated 90 points: Improved compared to the last one in April 2020: the wood is better integrated, there is citrus and white orchard fruit, pretty rich, with just enough acidity to balance. A good bottle which is ready for consumption. (1192 views)
Tasted by Ben Christiansen on 4/1/2022: A little twinge of a green streak to it. And still a little tight. Makes me feel like its corked. But it always does this. (1229 views)
Tasted by jwsmith on 4/10/2021 & rated 88 points: Its good not great I personally don't enjoy the 2015 vintage... (1799 views)
Tasted by Annie13 on 3/6/2021 & rated 91 points: Excellent vin! Grand parfum. Note de oak, wax, fennel, poire blanche, minéral.
Grande acidité, bonne longueur! (1419 views)
(1618 views)
Tasted by Ben Christiansen on 3/1/2021: This time out swinging for the fences and hitting it out of the park. (1521 views)
Tasted by Ben Christiansen on 2/26/2021: Maybe just a touch corky? Or maybe a little hint of premox going on there? Wild and kinda amazing on the palate if a little bit ferral. (1453 views)
Tasted by Burgundy Al on 2/23/2021: Bottle had been open a few days earlier and I was served this blind. Clearly from a ripe vintage with good depth, I thought this Chassagne 1er Cru from 2016. Best to enjoy in the next few years. (1384 views)
Tasted by Kim Gerner on 8/8/2020 & rated 90 points: Nice wine, Very stringent style. Slimmer and less rich than Domaine LEFLAIVE. I prefer Leflaive's style. Tasted at Rørvig Kro (1186 views)
Tasted by Ben Christiansen on 5/25/2020: Oddly enough on day one didn't move me all that much and thought it was going pre-mox. And then day two it mulled in and rounded out and a non pre-mox way. So i guess hold? (1468 views)
Tasted by Palisades57 on 5/10/2020 & rated 88 points: This bottle showed significant reduction. Decanted with some improvement. Will try again tomorrow. (1245 views)
Tasted by Ben Christiansen on 5/8/2020: Gorgeous. (1604 views)
Tasted by MJReb on 4/22/2020 & rated 90 points: Elevage notes well present, white stone fruit, menthol notes, the warm vintage shines through. (1236 views)
Tasted by danckie on 3/7/2020 & rated 91 points: I enjoyed this. Plenty of life ahead but in het early drinking window now. Can do with some O2. Apple, a hint of stonefruit and melon. Subtle oak. Medium body Vintage comes trough(low acidity). Better on the second day. (1043 views)
Tasted by OldKingBalthazar on 1/16/2020: Pretty evident menthol on the nose with delicious stone fruit and a fine minerality. Acidity not as vibrant as other Ramonet village wines I have had, but I suspect this may be vintage related. A damn good young village Chassagne. (991 views)
Tasted by Ben Christiansen on 12/23/2019: Now this was outstanding. Smokey, textural, vibrant, quite delicious. (1424 views)
Tasted by Ben Christiansen on 10/24/2019: I'm missing something because I was no-plussed by this bottle. Need to try again obviously. (1356 views)
Tasted by Hanibal on 7/23/2019 & rated 90 points: needs more time in bottle (1867 views)
Tasted by AWBryce on 4/16/2019: honeydew melon, honey; creamy finish, medium acid, silky mouthfeel. (1185 views)
Tasted by SLab on 1/24/2019 & rated 90 points: Nez sur réduction. Floral. Fruits pâles très délicats. Vin plutôt mince en PnP mais se révèle plus intéressant après une longue oxygénation . 90-91pts (1404 views)
Tasted by VINNICK on 12/31/2018 & rated 89 points: Light bodied Bourgogne. Lime citrus acidic earthiness. Nice structure. Buy this at the right price, don’t overpay. Nice for a brunch. (1295 views)

Burgundy

Les vins de Bourgogne (Bureau interprofessionnel des vins de Bourgogne) (and in English)

Burgundy - The province of eastern France, famous for its red wines produced from Pinot Noir and its whites produced from Chardonnay. (Small of amounts of Gamay and Aligoté are still grown, although these have to be labeled differently.) The most famous part of the region is known as the Cote d'Or (the Golden Slope). It is divided into the Cote de Beaune, south of the town of Beaune (famous principally for its whites), and the Cote de Nuits, North of Beaune (home of the most famous reds). In addition, the Cote Chalonnaise and the Maconnais are important wine growing regions, although historically a clear level (or more) below the Cote d'Or. Also included by some are the regions of Chablis and Auxerrois, farther north.

# 2013 Vintage Notes:
* "2013 is a vintage that 20 years ago would have been a disaster." - Will Lyons
* "low yields and highly variable reds, much better whites." - Bill Nanson
* "Virtually all wines were chaptalised, with a bit of sugar added before fermentation to increase the final alcohol level." - Jancis Robinson

# 2014 Vintage Notes:
"We have not had such splendid harvest weather for many years. This will ensure high quality (fragrant, classy and succulent are words already being used) across the board, up and down the hierarchy and well as consistently from south to north geographically apart from those vineyards ravaged by the hail at the end of June." - Clive Coates

# 2015 Vintage Notes:
"Low yields and warm weather allowed for ample ripeness, small berries and an early harvest. Quality is looking extremely fine, with some people whispering comparisons with the outstanding 2005 vintage. Acid levels in individual wines may be crucial." - Jancis Robinson

# 2017 Vintage Notes:
"Chablis suffered greatly from frost in 2017, resulting in very reduced volumes. As ever, the irony seems to be that what remains is very good quality, as it is in the Côte d’Or. Cooler nights across the region have resulted in higher-than-usual acidity, with good conditions throughout the harvest season allowing for ripe, healthy fruit." - Jancis Robinson

# 2018 Vintage Notes:
"The most successful region for red Burgundy in 2018 was the Côte de Beaune. The weather was ideal in this area, with just enough sunlight and rain to produce perfectly balanced wines naturally." - Vinfolio
