| Community Tasting Notes (average 88 pts. and median of 88 pts. in 4 notes) - hiding notes with no text | | Tasted by afields on 12/9/2021: The nose is pure saffron water. Lots of saffron in the palate too, and petrol, and fruit that’s halfway between apple and pineapple, with some orange too. Saffron petrol again on the finish. M+ acid, M body. Austere Nahe style, not so fruit driven, showing some age in a good way. Very good value for the WineText price, average value for the $30+ retail. Much better that the Tesch Karthauser I also got from WineText. 7.2/10 (291 views) | | Tasted by dlduchon on 1/29/2019 & rated 86 points: Decent Costco Riesling. Dry, austere style. A bit flabby on the finish. Citrusy. (505 views) | | Tasted by mrkurtz on 11/19/2018 & rated 90 points: Golden color.
Ripe citrus, tropical fruit aromas.
Rich palate, viscous, with flavors that match the nose. Med + acidity. A hint of bitterness on the finish.

U.S. Importer (Addt'l Info)Weingut Tesch Langenlonsheimer Königsschild Riesling TrockenSouth of the LÖHRER BERG we find the loose loess clay of the KÖNIGSSCHILDS, which is interspersed with shell limestone. It is thanks to the looseness of the soil that the old roots of the Riesling vines, following the deep seeping water, work their way into the ground up to 15 meters deep.
Especially when they are young, the Rieslings smell wonderfully playful and floral. In terms of taste, the wines appear polished, soft and elegant. The name is probably due to its affiliation with the Ingelheimer Kurpfalz, the winter residence of Charlemagne.Riesling Varietal character (Appellation America) | A short history of Riesling (Uncork) | Riesling (wikipedia)Trocken Wikipedia about Trocken (German)Germany Wines of Germany | The Association of German Prädikat Wine Estates (VDP) | How to read a German wine label | Geographical Information Down to Single Vineyards
#2014 Vintage Notes: 2014 Vintage Report by Terry Theise 2014 Vintage Report by Wine Spectator "My gut still tells me the Saar (and to some extent) the Ruwer are better overall in 2014 than the more storied areas of the Mosel proper, but those that spent the requisite time living in their middle-Mosel vineyards made some of the most electric and "feathery" Riesling in a long time (maybe the finest in 20 years - yes, it's true!)" - Jon Rimmerman (Of course only a very short historical memory would call the Saar and Ruwer less 'storied' than the middle Mosel - jht)NaheAn der Nahe erwarten den Besucher sanftes Grün, romantische Flusstäler und dramatische Felsformationen. Interactive map on weinlagen.info |
