Community Tasting Notes (average 93 pts. and median of 93 pts. in 13 notes) - hiding notes with no text

Tasted by Motz on 2/19/2024 & rated 95 points: Tasted alongside the 2017.

Gorgeous perfume of blue and purple fruits and berries, thick petal flowers, late summer potpourri, berry liqueurs, mint, sous bois, and complex earthiness. Minimal alcohol intrusiveness. Sophisticated, layered, intriguing.

The wine tastes like it smells, in inflection changing waves. Harmonious at all phases. The elegance masks impressive structure. Deep and satisfying finish.

All elements point to an optimal drinking window after 2040. No reason not to sample bottles now and there is an upside. Higher quality than the 2017. 95-96. (832 views)
Tasted by KJD45$ on 6/23/2023 & rated 93 points: Of course deepest opaque black purple…
Cassis blackberry nose..alcohol whiff…thick unctuous body and legs
Deep blueberry, cassis, oak, but surprising acidic lift …
Not sweet and cloying…

Tasted by Ruddyone on 3/25/2022 & rated 96 points: Good tannins. Not too sweet. (1579 views)
 Tasted by ShaneTierney on 10/23/2021 & rated 92 points: Decanted 48 hours. Tasted blind alongside '17 Cockburn VP, '16 & '17 Dow VP, '16 & '17 Taylor's VP.
Thicker and darker fruit than both Dow's, not as muscular as either Taylor's, and with a shorter finish.
The 2016 Cockburn had more spice and earthiness, slightly less balanced fruit, slightly longer finish than the 2017 Cockburn.
Excellent, but weaker than the competitors. (1754 views)
 Tasted by KJD45$ on 8/23/2020 & rated 92 points: Cassis....cassis....cassis....
Did I mention cassis?
Drinks surprisingly well for a young port....delicious now but better

Tasted by jjhsom on 8/1/2019 & rated 95 points: Surprisingly good young in 2019, but will age a long time too. (2854 views)
Tasted by sonodoc on 3/23/2019 & rated 93 points: This was really nice! I hadn't realized how much better vintage ports could be, compared to the ports I had been drinking before. Very smooth, not too sweet. (2683 views)
Tasted by dpolivy on 1/11/2019: Vindredi (2016 Ports + California Cabernet) (Bellevue, WA): Candied fig and raisin. Sweet and pure, with a nice balance. (2669 views)
Tasted by Eric Guido on 10/15/2018 & rated 93 points: The nose showed dusty, dark, sweet florals, ripe peaches, cherry, blackberry, smoke and hints of dried citrus. On the palate, I found a fresh expression, with vibrant acidity paving the way to spiced cherry with silky textures, as a wave of licorice, inner violet florals washed across the senses. It was unexpectedly fresh with a long finish, showing just a hint of heat, with citrus infused medicinal blackberry, and sweet violette pastille. (2703 views)
Tasted by FransS on 6/5/2018 & rated 91 points: 2016 Vintage Port - the Symington Family Estates (Restaurant Entrepot Amsterdam): A lovely deep colour, bouquet a bit closed and the taste is somewhat one-dimensional at the moment, missing some tension. I hope time in bottle will help this port.2,450 cases made. (2283 views)
