Tasted by markcic on 12/5/2023 & rated 91 points: Opened and served within an hour or so with a dinner of New Orleans seafood soup and baked salmon. White fruit and flowers on the nose. The palate was white plums, a little citrus, some white berries with a hint of spice leading to a moderate to long finish. (320 views)
Tasted by Ridgerunner on 9/8/2023 & rated 91 points: Good example of CA white Rhone blend (230 views)
Tasted by sonodoc on 4/22/2023 & rated 93 points: Delightful! Peach, pear, honey, with a well balanced and refreshing finish. A nice change from most other whites that I have had. (414 views)
Tasted by BARRY WAX on 3/26/2023 & rated 92 points: CLEAN, CRISP, NO OAK NOTES. WENT VERY WELL WITH MUSSELS; ENJOYABLE AND REFRSHING. (361 views)
Tasted by Brhouts on 7/11/2022 & rated 84 points: Ok. Just reinforces my lack of interest in whites (696 views)
Tasted by whudock on 7/3/2022 & rated 90 points: well-balanced and complete on all levels. Lots of nut notes complement the pear, guava and apple fruit. (551 views)
Tasted by Hansvo on 7/1/2022 & rated 87 points: I used to like the White Coat a lot better. I find them somewhat lacking in acidity, and - even at only 5 years old - tasting a little tired. Very appropriate varietal (Rousanne and Grenache Blanc) character though. (517 views)
Tasted by RichardsEric1 on 2/2/2022 & rated 88 points: I bought this based on rarity and providence. I am familiar enough with the Turley line to respect any of their efforts.

Color. Yellow with a tinge of tan.

Nose. Straw, sweet rolls, vanilla, cinnamon, lemon, orange zest.

Palate. Round, rich, voluptuous, lacking rich acidity, a little tannin.

I think this wine peaked a year ago. (743 views)
Tasted by prasm on 11/28/2021 & rated 91 points: Pop and pour, consumed over 3 hours (Honolulu). Appearance: Clear, medium lemon. Nose: Clean, medium+ intensity, developing aromas of pear, apricot, steel, acacia, apple, and wet stone. Palate: Dry, medium acid, medium+ body with lovely creamy mouth-feel, medium alcohol (13.8% abv), medium intensity with developing flavors of pear, apricot, honeydew melon and flint with a medium+ finish. Overall a very good effort excelling in balance, complexity, and length. Drink now or over the next 3-5 years. (791 views)
Tasted by EZEddie on 9/5/2021 & rated 91 points: Light gold in color, lots going on on the palate. Peach vanilla a hint of honey. (723 views)
Tasted by JKIndy on 2/15/2021 & rated 93 points: Best White Coat I’ve had yet. Medium body and mouthfeel with lots of honey and apricot notes. Very nice. (1171 views)
Tasted by Lawino7 on 8/9/2020 & rated 94 points: Pale golden, medium body. Bone dry green apple with hints of vanilla & flint. Lovely with pan seared salmon in a butter-lemon-caper sauce. Enjoy this baby now! (1683 views)
Tasted by Lawino7 on 8/3/2020 & rated 93 points: Pale golden color with medium viscosity. Nose of green apple. Initial palate of dry green apple & tart pear. Perfect with Vichyssoise on a hot August evening in the deep and sultry south of New Orleans... followed with Spinach Ravioli Alfredo and cold boiled Shrimp from the Gulf of Mexico. (1379 views)
Tasted by Gbones97 on 8/2/2020 & rated 91 points: Good. Honey, peach on nose. Vanilla, buttery, acid, balanced, Stone. Solid wine. (1266 views)
Tasted by jsmorris707 on 4/10/2020 & rated 93 points: Similar to prior note after PNP; delicious, drink or hold (2027 views)
Tasted by pdr_urrutia on 4/6/2020 & rated 89 points: A very sweet nose with peach and honeysuckle, but some wet stone to finish it off. Also sweet and floral on the palate with a full body, but just a bit of acidity to balance it out. (1314 views)
Tasted by Outplaying on 3/5/2020: Ann liked this more than me. I think it could have used a little more acidity. It did show better closer to room temperature.

On the bright side, I was able to guess the wine as a white Rhône blend. I get lucky every once in a while. (1176 views)
Tasted by JBLevinson on 2/2/2020 & rated 93 points: Closed at first but opened up with pear, stone fruit, and a nice mineral body as it warmed up and had a few hours of air. Started with the bottle at refrigerator temperature but it was much better between cellar and room temp. Delicious and tasted sweet and even more complex paired with Peri-Peri chicken.

I want to wait a few years before trying my next bottle but it's already good now! (1186 views)
Tasted by yaCellar on 1/17/2020 & rated 90 points: Nose of exotic fruits, mandarin orange, and ripe green bean. Palette is full, with med- acid and a med finish. Mostly indecipherable, but then I’m a Rousanne n00b. A nice wine that hopefully gains complexity and interest. (1144 views)
Tasted by jsmorris707 on 12/24/2019 & rated 93 points: SO'd for an hour, med. yellow, melon; delicious & better than prior yrs, drink or hold (1118 views)
Tasted by catlady on 11/29/2019 & rated 90 points: Interesting white blend. Had with Thanksgiving appetizers. (1026 views)
Tasted by Kcornett on 11/28/2019 & rated 92 points: Fantastic white blend. Perfect balance. Light citrus and good earthy complexity. Walks a fine line between complexity vs too much. (892 views)
Tasted by Twopawsup on 11/23/2019 & rated 93 points: Pale lemon color with slow legs. A bit of grass on the nose and lemon/lime. Apricot, pear and papaya on the palate. Well balanced acidity on a nice long smooth finish. (884 views)
Tasted by Sswearingen on 11/10/2019 & rated 93 points: Rich, semi dry, with excellent fruit and finish (992 views)

Turley The White Coat

The White Coat (named for Larry’s past career as an Emergency Room physician) is composed of white Rhône grapes from three of our Estate vineyards across California. The rich, textured Roussanne from Rattlesnake Ridge on Howell Mountain in Napa is moderated by acidity and structure provided by the Grenache Blanc grown in the calcareous soils of the Pesenti Vineyard in Paso Robles. Finally, the blend is rounded out with a touch of refreshing, mineral Vermentino (also known as Rolle) from the granitic and quartz-laden Cobb Vineyard in Amador. The result is an exceptional, dynamic white wine that is truly California.

Turley's signature white blend of Grenache Blanc, Vermentino, and Roussanne, all white Rhône grapes. Ripe yellow fruits, candied lemon peel, spiced apple, cantaloupe, honeysuckle, and sun-warmed white stone. A quintessential winter white wine; rich and luscious yet fresh and well-proportioned. Would be exquisite with scallops or spiny lobster, drinking well now at 40°-50°F.

White Rhone Blend

A white wine containing two or more Rhône varieties, including: Viognier, Marsanne, Roussanne, Clairette, Grenache Blanc and Bourboulenc.

USA

American wine has been produced since the 1500s, with the first widespread production beginning in New Mexico in 1628. Today, wine production is undertaken in all fifty states, with California producing 84% of all U.S. wine. The continent of North America is home to several native species of grape, including Vitis labrusca, Vitis riparia, Vitis rotundifolia, and Vitis vulpina, but the wine-making industry is based almost entirely on the cultivation of the European Vitis vinifera, which was introduced by European settlers. With more than 1,100,000 acres (4,500 km2) under vine, the United States is the fourth-largest wine producing country in the world, after Italy, Spain, and France.

2021 vintage: "Unlike almost all other areas of the state, the Russian River Valley had higher than normal crops in 2021, which has made for a wine of greater generosity and fruit forwardness than some of its stablemates." - Morgan Twain-Peterson
