Tasted by InVinjeVeritas on 3/13/2023 & rated 93 points: Great, dry pinot gris. Still in excelent shape, and should last many years. Wish a had more. (261 views)
Tasted by PSPatrick on 8/30/2022 & rated 92 points: Bottle in good condition. Greyish medium yellow golden colour. Ripe stone fruit and ripe yellow fruit notes, honeydew melon, ripe pineapple, some orange peel, light wild honey, and light spice. Medium- to full-bodied, with a full, smooth, oily texture. Starts sweet and finishes dry, with very good persistence. Even more open and accessible and more harmonious on day two. Shows best with food, in our case a mild Curry and Chicken Tikka Masala. In a good place, and should continue to drink well for at least another five years. (482 views)
Tasted by rikipedia on 9/3/2018 & rated 91 points: Terroir-istes International - France, Alsace Pinot Gris & Gewurztraminer (Cape Town Law offices): (Tasted Blind): A light gold colour. The nose is cordite (almost), then wet river stones, mussel shells, and mineral and dusty chalkiness.
It's an intense and very tight entry that feels as chalky as it smells! Upright in structure, giving backbone to the wine and with a flinty mineral profile reminiscent of Savennieres.
The sinewy texture with creamed honey and vibrant acidity steered more to Chenin Blanc than the Pinot Gris expected! Indeed, a different expression, the wine has excellent intense flavours, depth and a juicy freshness across the palate extending to a persistent finish. Closes with a savoury twist and notes of partially dried honey-infused apricot (a honey-sweetness), plenty of citrus with hints of lemon blossom, lemongrass, and greener lemon leaf. It is off-dry with some nice development. (150 views)
Tasted by englishman's claret on 11/30/2013 & rated 92 points: Melon fruit, so fine and stylish for Pinot Gris. (3243 views)
Tasted by avp on 9/17/2013: Oily fragrances on the stone fruit nose with orange rind, honey and spices.
Dry, full bodied and rather rich on the palate with decent acidity, oily white peach fruit, honeyed floral character and spices like yeera. Long slightly bitter aftertaste.
A fun wine. (3064 views)
Tasted by Brondani on 8/16/2013 & rated 96 points: - Yellow color. (2916 views)
Tasted by mukden on 6/25/2013 & rated 90 points: YES. So, this is not characteristic of quality alsace pinot gris but it is very interesting. Good acidity and sweetness, with light apricotfruit. day 1, I thought it was like bubblegum, but by day 2 it was a lit better, developed a lot more complexity. maybe just needs time to mature a bit. (2954 views)
Tasted by Henrik06 on 5/5/2013 & rated 90 points: Burst of honey and almost dried beeswax. Very crisp and fresh. A little too much sweetness holds back the score (3719 views)
Tasted by forceberry on 1/29/2013 & rated 98 points: The grapes are sourced from Grand Cru Osterberg.

Deep golden yellow color with faint green highlights. Deep, lush and complex nose oozing with tropical fruits, honey, dried apricots, pineapple and even the slightest hints of waxy botrytis nuances. Although the nose is obviously heavier and much more concentrated than that of Pinot Gris Reserve 2009 (in the neighboring glass), the nose of this wine still shows more freshness and a lot less overripe character. On the palate the wine is profound and remarkably complex with full body and oily mouthfeel. The 11 g/l of residual sugar give the wine richness and accentuate the fruit flavors without giving the wine much sweetness. There are rich, concentrated flavors of ripe, dried yellow fruits - peach, pineapple and honeydew melon on the fore - with waxy, honeyed notes of botrytis and a touch of smoke. Remarkable intensity and enromously pleasant, silky mouthfeel. This is positively over-the-top without any feeling of being overdone. Due to its spectacular balance, this wine is much less monolithic than how it could be. The finish is incredibly long, complex and opulent with bold, powerful flavors of oriental spices, juicy tropical fruits, some smoky minerality, a little honey and a touch of waxy botrytis.

A true experience and a testament to how Pinot Gris can make some of the world's most spectacular wines in right hands. Enormously impressive and eaasily some of the greatest wines I've ever tasted. Truly a humongous wine, still not one that is excessive or overdone. Let it age at least 10 years from the vintage, preferably 15-20 years. I've nothing negative to say about this wine, I'm just awestruck here. At approx. 25€ the wine's QPR is through the roof. (1305 views)
Tasted by mukden on 8/24/2012 & rated 89 points: MAYBE. So, I dissed this the last time I had it, but it may have been a badish bottle. There is a lot of sugar here, more than you would expect from a good Alsace Pinot Gris (where you can get great complexity, that in Grand Crus, challenges Burgundy Chardonnay). This would make a avery good aperitif wine, light and sweet. Nice balanced acidity. It is lacking those secondary flavours more dryness and bacony stuff. But, is a very pleasant wine. (1795 views)
Tasted by Poggio Al vento on 7/15/2012 & rated 90 points: This wine was quite sweet and was maybe served a bit too hot because the wine was almost to olie but still a nice bottle of Pinot G. The finish was quite nice and there was some peach that was really interesting. It went perfectly with king-shrimps in sweet thai-chilli:-) (1912 views)
Tasted by Eschmidtke on 6/30/2012: Nice creamy finish but this wine still needs a few years. (1632 views)
Tasted by drwine2001 on 4/11/2012: An Extraordinary Range at Maison Trimbach (Ribeauvillé, France): Medium yellow. Riper peach than the '08 Reserve. Rich and lush but restrained. Long earthy finish. Stylish. (2352 views)
Tasted by Maestro on 3/6/2012 & rated 91 points: A reminder that this varietal can reach much higher quality levels than it usually does. The nose is subtle, with floral and mineral notes and a hint of smoke (as in the smoke in a campfire). The palate is not subtle, though. It delivers a serious punch with abundant minerality, a petrol feeling, and powerful fruit. The finish is long and the wine pairs beautifully with smoked food as well as spicy food. The sugar comes up at 9g/l, but it is beautifully balanced by perfect acidity, which gives it both a fresh profile and a hefty backbone. It drinks well now, but it has a long life ahead. (1448 views)
Tasted by Bar57 on 2/8/2012 flawed bottle: Unfortunatly cork taint, but have had this before solid wine - perfect for cheeses! 90p (1251 views)
Tasted by aridan on 12/24/2011 & rated 92 points: Perfect with smoked pork (1266 views)

Pinot Gris

From Pinot Gris Wikipedia entry:
Wines made from the Pinot gris vary greatly and are dependent on the region and wine making style they are from. Alsatian Pinot gris are medium to full bodied wines with a rich, somewhat floral bouquet. They tend to be spicy in comparisons with other Pinot gris. While most Pinot gris are meant to be consumed early, Alsatian Pinot gris can age well. German Pinot gris are more full-bodied with a balance of acidity and slight sweetness. In Oregon the wines are medium bodied with a yellow to copper-pink color and aromas of pear, apple, and/or melon. In California, the Pinot gris are more light bodied with a crisp, refreshing taste with some pepper and arugula notes. The Pinot grigio style of Italy is a light-bodied, often lean wine that is light in color with sometimes spritzy flavors that can be crisp and acidic. Although this wine can be very sweet, it will begin to lose its acidity when it is nearly ripe.

Pinot gris is considered an "early to market wine" that can be bottled and out on the market within 4–12 weeks after fermentation.
