Tasted by Avid Wino on 10/21/2023 & rated 86 points: Fruit cake and wood and alcohol heat, in a nutshell. Take those words at face value and doesn’t sound appealing, but a pleasure to drink, albeit a basic pleasure compared to other fortified options. (659 views)
Tasted by Robsteenis on 4/6/2023 & rated 70 points: Lekker, dadels, honingdrop, zacht warm met een scherpe hint. (946 views)
Tasted by SuperSomm on 8/1/2022: Deep ruby colour. Medium and developing nose with red cherry, dark plum, fig, vanilla, chocolate and orange marmalade. Medium taste of dark plum, vanilla, fig and orange marmalade. Medium long and sweet finish. Medium acidity. Full body. A good Ruby Port that lacks some complexity and length. Drink now. Goes well with cheeses or chocolate. (521 views)
Tasted by The Drunken Cyclist on 7/16/2022 & rated 89 points: Retail $20. Touriga Nacional Touriga Francesca Tinta Barroca Tinta Cão Tinta Roriz. I do not drink much port these days since I have been avoiding most sugar in my diet. Still, I realize I miss port (or is it the sweetness?), it's rich fruit, depth of flavor, and incredible balance. Here we go. No, this is not the *best* port I have tried, but at twenty bucks (probably under $15 on the shelves?)? One could do a whole lot worse. Very Good.

Tasted by Dan & Krista Stockman on 4/12/2022 & rated 92 points: Love this. It's a non-vintage, but has been in our cellar five years and is still incredibly rich with red fruits. Truly wonderful. (1735 views)
Tasted by isaacjamesbaker on 3/27/2022 & rated 86 points: Deep purple color. Classic nose of roasted figs, plum sauce, smoky earth, clove and cedar. Full but fresh, smooth tannins and moderate acidity. Plum cake, figs, the fruit mixes with notes of potpourri, tar, cedar, clove and tobacco. Yummy stuff. (1376 views)
Tasted by Martin Redmond on 2/18/2022 & rated 85 points: Port Primer: Opaque dark ruby color with black cherry liqueur, dried fig, plum vanilla, bittersweet chocolate, cedar and cinnamon stick aromas. On the palate, it's full-bodied with medium-acidity and supple tannins. It shows rich, black cherry and black raspberry liqueur, strawberry compote, plum, bittersweet chocolate and vanilla flavors. 19.5% abv|SRP - $20

Originally introduced in 1969, Cockburn’s Special Reserve bridged the gap between vintage ports and their younger counterparts, creating an approachable yet more complex port category because it's aged up to 2 longer than entry level Ruby Port (1392 views)
Tasted by caspernick on 2/11/2022 & rated 91 points: The third Port in a trio I recently purchased this one is a Special Reserve. It's way more opaque than the Ruby I tasted previously. The nose has nuts, lots of them, plus rich blueberry compote, blackberry jam, prunes, stewed cherry and raspberry. A virtual melange of red, black and blue fruit. The nuts are fascinating- walnuts, pecan and filberts. The palate is mouth-coating with delicious, rich fruit and lithe tannins. Medium (-) acidity allows this wine's fruit to shine whilst the tannins sneak out to the finish. Stewed blackberry, blueberry and cherry are the primary fruit flavors. Walnut and pecan with a faint trace of smoke round it out. The tannins are very fine-grained and stick around for a while. This is delicious stuff, no doubt. I got it for $16, and it gets 91 points from me upending the Fine Ruby as my new go-to Port to stock up on. 5 stars for sure. (1112 views)
Tasted by cos65 on 11/25/2021 & rated 85 points: Decent ruby, not much more. (880 views)
Tasted by JRebar on 10/9/2021 & rated 84 points: Dry, tobacco and chocolate notes, noticeable alcohol heat. Deep ruby color (811 views)
Tasted by SlimShaney on 5/5/2019 & rated 90 points: Simple and super pleasant. Reinforces that all port is pretty damn good port. (2902 views)
Tasted by trastevere on 3/3/2018 & rated 85 points: Does what it says on the tin, with medium bodied character, bright cherry and plum fruit, cocoa and christmas pudding and a soft, but not hot, finish. (3865 views)
Tasted by graemeg on 1/31/2018: {375ml, cork, 20%, A$13} This is pretty simple stuff. Basic red fruits, enlivened with brandy spirit, off-dry-ish, mostly disappoints with lack of depth and finish; overall a light/medium-bodied fortified of no real distinction. An object lesson in getting rid of the inferior barrels, but still under the brand name; not sure of the long-term value in that approach. Not a wine I'd buy again, even at the bargain price; spend twice the money and get something better. (3745 views)
Tasted by johnrm on 12/20/2017 & rated 85 points: Bought on the basis that the current batch of NV Special Reserve had won a silver medal at the International Wine Challenge 2017. Oh dear. I wonder which specially selected samples they were tasting?
To be fair, it shows decent fruit - mainly cherry (with maraschino) and prunes with vanilla and some slightly woody flavours. Easy to quaff but it is a very ordinary example with little to distinguish it from a host of cheaper ruby ports. (3676 views)
Tasted by graemeg on 11/20/2017: Etihad Business CLass & Lounges; 11/20/2017-11/24/2017 (Sydney, Abu Dhabi, Frankfurt): Bitey cherry notes. Sweet brambly fruit; lots of heat. Warm, fairly even balance on the tongue, off-dry if you like. Medium weight. Rather one-dimensional in character, with fresh grapey flavours and a brandied heat. Not much back palate; short/medium finish other than the alcohol. Gosh, port notes are a challenge! (3987 views)
Tasted by rjonwine@gmail.com on 8/29/2017 & rated 88 points: Dark ruby color; aromatic, baked berry, plum jam, spice nose; tasty, baked berry, plum jam, spice palate with good balance; medium-plus finish (19.5% alcohol) 88+ points (788 views)
Tasted by isaacjamesbaker on 4/17/2017 & rated 85 points: Douro Samples: Dark ruby colored. Nose of saucy black cherries, fig cookies, vanilla and dark chocolate shavings. On the palate, this shows fig cookies, roasted plums, sweet coffee and chocolate shavings on a frame of light tannins and low acidity. Notes of vanilla and ginger snap, this is a simple, hedonistic wine for the price. (3329 views)
Tasted by radm.hum on 2/9/2017 & rated 88 points: Simple ripe dark fruits, jammy with burning 20% abv. Extremely sweet molasses & dried fruits with smoky background, full body. A red wine with sweet white body. (2144 views)
Tasted by df1962 on 12/30/2016 & rated 85 points: Serviceable ruby port. Clean and true pure fruit flavours not a lot of complexity. (2171 views)
Tasted by Baronfreya on 11/27/2016 & rated 84 points: Cannot remember when or where or how long ago but was in the mood for port and wanted to keep it simple so I pulled this. Light for a ruby found it thin at the edges. Nose was straightforward rain prune cherries lots of alcohol. Palette was sweet dried fruits again some heavy alcohol bit of nuts a and burnt wood. For the price a good value based on what I see people are paying I don't remember my price point. Won't blow away a port drinker but at the same time they won't look at you crazy for serving it (2270 views)
Tasted by theportguy on 9/18/2016 & rated 90 points: 2016 Port Harvest Tour; 9/18/2016-9/25/2016 (Portugal): Medium purple in color, with lightening on the very edges. Primary dark fruit on the nose with some underlying herbal notes. Massive tannins and body. Blueberry and mocha notes on the palate. (1077 views)
Tasted by WineCuentista on 7/20/2016 & rated 89 points: The wine is a deep ruby colour.

The wine has a pronounced aroma of ripe black fruits; damons, cherries and plums, almost jammy and very, very concentrated. Some smoke and pepper. The wine is youthful.

On the palate the wine is sweet with medium+ acidity, high alcohol, full bodied, medium soft, ripe tannins and a medium+ intensity with a medium finish+.

This is a very good quality Ruby Port. (2873 views)

Tasted by SuperSomm on 11/25/2015: Deep ruby red colour. Cherries and plum on the nose. Taste of cherries, plums and strawberries. Young and rich with a long finish. Drier that other ports. Great with blue cheese or chocolate based desserts. (66 views)
Tasted by corkscrews on 10/17/2015 & rated 86 points: Similar to last note, a good value. www.winelx.com (2799 views)
