Drink it or toss it. Your call. Beware before serving to guests. (4017 views) | | Tasted by Barry Notes on 8/30/2010 & rated 78 points: Short Decant. Dark purple color. Smoke nose. Some cork & smoke taste. Somewhat of a stange taste, not a wine to my liking. Drink now. (4233 views) | | Tasted by drdebs on 4/17/2009 & rated 87 points: Purchased 7/06, drinking it nearly three years later. Delicious aromas of spicebox, earth, cherries, plums. Terrific spicy palate, with the fruit no longer primary. In the background there are plums, black cherries and yes some chocolate in the finish. Shows the aging potential of the wine--tasting very different from those who reported on it earlier. (4611 views) | | Tasted by jreis on 12/23/2008: Nice spicy sweet nose - candied black pepper. Fairly simple on the palate with some nice candied cherry fruit. (4738 views) | | Tasted by Guitar George on 9/28/2008 & rated 89 points: Excellent bottle. Strong nose of fruit and earth. Palate of fruit as noted elsewhere, I also picked up a pleasant undertone of woodiness. I found the finish to be long and satsifying. I was not looking forward to this bottle as I had one a couple of years ago from the same vintage that may have been corked (and I didn't know it) or just needed more time. In any event, I will be picking more of this up. (5013 views) | | Tasted by CobraKahn on 10/16/2007 & rated 88 points: Good every day drinker for the price. New world style, old world grape. (2645 views) | | Tasted by Tarrant on 10/5/2007 & rated 88 points: Nice, dark red/purple with a tinge of amber at the rim, sour cherry, smoke, very fruit forward, nicely balanced, simple with medium length (88 Points). (2656 views) | | Tasted by Cheers_mate! on 3/26/2007 & rated 87 points: A pleasant wine that became more interesting as it breathed. Tasted of mature fruit (maybe even a touch raisiny) and seemed a lot like a Zinfandel. (3035 views) | | Tasted by Tarrant on 2/24/2007 & rated 86 points: Nice, it was medium bodied, with a very sweet-fruit nose, it was smooth/soft on the palate with barely perceptible tannins, with a pronounced sweetness, the finish was short-medium in length (86 Points). (3088 views) | | Tasted by Gringo on 2/24/2007 & rated 86 points: This wine was a pleasant surprise. I am a fan of Spanish Mourvedre - absolutely great QPR. But a Californian? I doubt that I would purchase this wine again, since there are for more interesting Spanish Mourvedres at comparable prices. Nevertheless, this is a nice, pleasant quaff. The nose was treated to leather and cedar notes. The palate was greeted with pleasant and straightforward middle notes. (3200 views) | | Tasted by Keithernet on 6/23/2006 & rated 83 points: Not great. In fact, I didn't like it. Not complex at all, just didn't do it for me. (4097 views) | | Tasted by SMG on 5/26/2006 & rated 85 points: Bouquet of cherries, raspberries, strawberries, chocolate and earth, while in the mouth this wine revealed soft tannins and paired well with food. The alcohol did come through the wine, but it is low in acid and shows lots of fruit. A nice QRP wine. (4453 views) | | Tasted by DocSkinner on 5/9/2006 & rated 89 points: A very nice wine at this price point. Got teh raspberry nose, a little earth, nicely balanced for my palate, a little hot at first, but after sitting for abit seemed a little 'cooler'. Great real food wine - had with a nice dry rubbed roast done on the grill. (4320 views) | | Tasted by plitton on 4/17/2006 & rated 85 points: Soft tannins. A little hot (alcoholy). A decent everyday-er. (4484 views) | | Tasted by hutch on 3/26/2006: This is pleasantly different. Strong, dusty earth nose. Light tannins. This is juicy, with ripe acidity and great but not overbearing fruit. Not real old world. It seems like Cline is letting the grape express itself, and this works, at a great price point. Nice job. (3814 views) | | Tasted by AtlantaBill on 3/6/2006 & rated 87 points: Earthy aroma with hints of chocolate. Taste suggests chocolate and cherries. Tannins are soft. Long finish. (4632 views) | | Tasted by DancingDavidE on 2/18/2006 & rated 92 points: Drank at dinner club. This is one of my very favorite wines. (That's why i went out of the way to stop by the winery and order a case!) (4494 views) | | Tasted by Kryn13 on 12/19/2005: Dry nose at first...herbal almost. Tasted chocolate. Med tannic...decent finish. Nice fruit taste lingers. Label describes eucalyptus and I can agree with that almost...something herbal to the taste. Wonder what it will be like with more age.
Interesting wine. B (4476 views) | | Tasted by Dale M on 12/10/2005 & rated 88 points: Very intresting wine. Red rasberry on the nose with a strong suggestion of fresh mint. Medium bodied, low acid, and defintley a fruit forward bottle, with strawberry notes, framed by an appropriate use of oak. The finish had a nice bark element ot it, and this went very well with my chicken tandoori. (4666 views) | | Tasted by OneLastSyrah on 2/5/2005: Mo-Mourvedre at MoMo's: Blind Red 5 - Bit of oak on the nose, then bark, fur. Sweet cinnamon attack with concentrated red fruit. Rich berry fruit. Highish, sweet alcohol. Decent. (1817 views) |

Today, wine production is undertaken in all fifty states, with California producing 84% of all U.S. wine. The continent of North America is home to several native species of grape, including Vitis labrusca, Vitis riparia, Vitis rotundifolia, and Vitis vulpina, but the wine-making industry is based almost entirely on the cultivation of the European Vitis vinifera, which was introduced by European settlers. With more than 1,100,000 acres (4,500 km2) under vine, the United States is the fourth-largest wine producing country in the world, after Italy, Spain, and France.California2021 vintage: "Unlike almost all other areas of the state, the Russian River Valley had higher than normal crops in 2021, which has made for a wine of greater generosity and fruit forwardness than some of its stablemates." - Morgan Twain-Peterson |
