Tasted by redz on 6/30/2022 & rated 92 points: limited experience with old ports, but this has a delicious nose, and is smooth, tasty, no pruniness or signs of fatigue. Mid way through a case I bought by mistake at auction for $30/btl. (I thought I was just logging on...) The corks are all breaking, but the wine is good. (550 views)
Tasted by DaleW on 4/16/2019: Decanted about 3 hours. OK, 3rd tier producer, a vintage most didn’t declare. But it actually showed fairly nicely, if not very complex. Candied cherry with some five-spice and citrus zest, just not super long and showing its alcohol a bit too much. Drink up B (1071 views)
Tasted by Claw Dee Puss on 4/24/2017 & rated 88 points: Somewhat disappointing - perhaps only a 4 hour decant didn't help, but I didn't have longer before the dinner at which I served it.
Pleasant, yes, but too sweet and goopy for my taste. (1690 views)
Tasted by cofidis2 on 1/24/2011 & rated 90 points: Hindsight being 20-20, 1982 was a year that saw a few producers choosing to declare instead of 1983. Decanted almost 9 hours, what started out as a very sweet VP has slowly changed to a drier profile with lots of leather, no shortage of violets, light tannins still peaking through, and dried cherries on the finish. The palate is showing far more mature than the dark ruby color, this is quite the enjoyable VP.

Port Blend

Over a hundred varieties of grapes (castas) are sanctioned for port production, although only five (Tinta Barroca, Tinto Cão, Tinta Roriz (Tempranillo), Touriga Francesa, and Touriga Nacional) are widely cultivated and used.
