Pale ruby color; good classic ripe red fruit, spice, good character; palate is light bodied, good red fruit, not deep or complex but balanced; finish is short-medium. An enjoyable california-styled ripe but balanced pinot, good for entry level <$20 but overpriced at $30. Ready now. 86-87
France, Bordeaux, Libournais, St. Émilion Grand Cru
Coravin 9/14/14: Medium ruby color; spicy character, great depth of fruit on the nose; palate is full bodied, still quite youthful tannins but approachable, some fruit early on but fades into a bit of wood in the midpalate, slightly thin; finish is short-medium length. Nice budget bordeaux for the price, and the nose gives this a character that makes it enjoyable, otherwise it's nothing special. Pop and pour, may improve with air. Still has a few years left. 89-90. 10/1/14: Agree with previous note, and emphasize the short finish and the overall assessment that it has some minor character but overall not that remarkable. 88-89 today.
France, Bordeaux, Libournais, St. Émilion Grand Cru
Deeper ruby-purple color with little to no bricking; nose is ripe, modern, some oak, notable vanilla spice, youthful; palate is full bodied, ripe, slight heat, smooth, some fruit, fades a bit toward the finish; medium length finish, very slightly drying. A ripe modern styled bordeaux that lacks typical bordeaux character, but still pleasant to drink. Not a bad buy at $25-30 if you like modern fruit-forward wines. 86-88
