Full colour. Meaty, fruity nose. Fresh, bright acidity, red fruits. Really quite couth. Hasn't been open long enough for the iron and blood aromas to develop yet. Plenty of time. Very good and consistent with previous bottles of this.

Slightly cloudy (Linden rports that it has visited the Science Museum amonst others that day!). Light nose. Slight hint of sweetness coming through. Light attack, deceptive texture - very smooth. Slightly figgy fruit. Starting to break up a bit.

Good colour, bright. Lovely nose. Sweet fruit, mellow. Really lovely. Still some grip on the attack. Good weight and length. Very well balanced. Fuller somehow than I was expecting. Excellent.

Some vanilla but otherwise clean nose, again possibly slightly lactic. Full, quite grippy. Slightly light on the finish. Good but underwhelming.

Full colour, smokey nose, deep red fruit. Slightly smokey bacon. A little flat on the mid-palate, quite a savoury finish. Still quite chewy. Sweet fruit. Very good.

Quite a flat nose. Sweet fruit, slightly savory in the mouth. A slightly 'pinched' aspect to the finish. Also slightly bitter - hints of anise.

Palest yellow. Scented, floral; nose, glace fruit. spicy. Slightly buttery, pineapple on the finish. becoming more and more atypical (of white burg) with time. Something exotic. Lovely.

Palest yellow. Mineral nose. slightly nutty, hints of tropical fruit. Clean and reasonable typicity but sems a little flat (general concensus was that this lacked grip and balance and might be poxed or possibly minor TCA). I wonder if this has fallen apart a little with slight aeration as when I uncorked it to check before leaving home it seemed classic - glace fruit and minerality in abundance, slight nuttiness and lovely palate. This was the first of two bottles of this - will open the other one soon and drink for the initial freshness.

Mid yellow to light gold. Oakier attack. Slightly pineapply. far less mineral, fuller, rounder and quite oaky on the finish. Clearly classy but for me, possibly de trop.

Very fragrant nose, light, ethereal, screams Chambolle. Some hints of caramel coming through. Silky albeit still with some grip. Nice length. Lovely wine.

Quite a pruney nose. A bit porty and past it. On the way down or out of condition?

Deep browny-amber. Sweet sweet entry. A faint hint of acidity on the finish, just. Rich and rounded. Impressive nectar.

Deep browny amber. Slight marmelade notes. Far crisper, more acidity on the attack. Marmelade. Again, lovely nectar but a little easier to drink.

2002 M. Chapoutier Ermitage Blanc l'Ermite

Deeper, mid yellow. Waxy, slightly oily, lanolin nose. Rounded, slightly oily, peach kernels. texturalloy, this finishes quite abruptly but some residual flavour lingers for some time. Good but not really my style of wine.

2001 Château de Beaucastel Châteauneuf-du-Pape Blanc Cuvée Roussanne Vieilles Vignes
France, Rhône, Southern Rhône, Châteauneuf-du-Pape
Slightly deeper yellow than the L'Ermité. Slightly muted nose, hints of milk/actose (Rivella). Positive entry, quite lifted, slightly honeyed. Good, prefer this to the L'Ermiée but would rather drink the Condrieu.
