La Grande Rue vertical 1964 to 2007

Introduction
Anthony Hanson was on hand to introduce a comprehensive vertical of this real trainspotter's grand cru. And on the basis of the last ten years, I'd say this was a real grand cru Vosne experience - allying power and spice and a luxurious texture to vivid pure pinot fruit. The 2005 is spectacular and the 06 and 07 are impressive for their respective vintages. The 02 is lovely. The 98 to 01 are less refined, but could come good.

Darker than the 07, spicier, vanillin oak more obvious, grippy, substantial, clearly very young, but this could turn out superbly

Still purple, nose muted, rich jam fruit, lots of spice from the oak, cherry and damson fruit, very ripe, but showing amazing depth and power - this is very impressive, spectacular

Muted cardboard nose, rich, meaty and malty, some iodine, not very expressive and lots of tannin, but enough there to suggest that this will be very good in a few years time
