Introduction

The Saturdays at One group gathered to blind taste one flight of white wines and one flight of red wines. We knew which wines were in the two flights but we had no idea what the tasting order was. So onto the show...

Flight 1 - Flight 1 - White Wines (5 Notes)

As you can see from my notes I nailed all five in this flight. Look at the varietals in this flight. It was like shooting fish in a barrel my friends.

  • 2008 Provenance Vineyards Sauvignon Blanc Rutherford 88 Points

Tasted blind. Light yellow color in the glass, clear hue throughout. Nose of grass and peach. Flavors of lime, peach and grapefruit. Medium acidity, light body. Drink now. My guess is this is the 2008 Provenance Vineyards Sauvignon Blanc.

Flight 2 - Flight 2 - Red Wines (5 Notes)

This flight was a little more difficult. In this flight I got three out of five correct. I want everybody to look at my tasting notes very carefully for the two wines I called incorrectly. Based on my notes what wines do you think I was tasting?

  • 2006 Perata Vineyards Cabernet Sauvignon Franks's Blend 89 Points

Tasted blind. Garnet to dark garnet color in the glass, clear hue throughout. Nose of blueberries, Kirsch, white pepper and a hint of smoke. Flavors of black berries and black cherries.
