Villa Creek Winery Tasting

Villa Creek Winery

Introduction

Our second tasting stop of the day was Villa Creek on Peachy Canyon Road. Villa Creek is a fairly non-descript single building winery in the middle of nowhere. When you first pull up you're quickly greeted by the three dogs. What's a winery without a dog? It’s a winery sorely in need of a dog in my opinion. So after being greeted by our canine hosts the humans escorted us into the winery where our tasting tables were plywood held up by wine barrels at each end. Love it. The tasting room is hosted by a couple of young ladies that are ever so laid back and knowledgeable about the products they pour. The tasting fee is $10.00 per person which includes your Riedel "O" series glass and is fully refunded with a purchase. We tasted our way through five red wines only since their whites and roses were long ago sold out shortly after release earlier this summer. That's a good sign. We found every wine tasted to be surprisingly good with the 2007 Avenger being a clear standout on a quality versus price basis. If you're not currently following Villa Creek then I recommend casting an eye towards them over the near term. We walked away with a mixed six pack that'll be shipped in October. We look forward to re-tasting the wines at home with a meal. They should excel.
