Flight 1 (3 Notes)

  • NV Moët & Chandon Champagne Brut Impérial 87 Points

    France, Champagne

EK924 CAI -> DBX. Before take-off. Pale golden, 1-2 mm bubbles, straight pattern. Nose of toasted bread, pear and other green fruits. Dry, very high acidity, pear, apple, little note of the lees, soft mousse giving foamy luxurious texture. Nice sweet undertone, light body, finishes in about 6 sec with refreshing acidity. Good, not great.

  • 2003 Château de Sales 89 Points

    France, Bordeaux, Libournais, Pomerol

EK924 CAI -> DBX. Deep garnet, impressive nose displaying great complexity, dark cherries, blackcurrants, and even cocoa notes (sic). Dry, high acidity, fruit-drive with plum, blackberries, chocolate. High in tannins that are fully integrated and provide a firm structure and complexity, velvety texture. Medium-long finish, with a bit of glycerine texture. Very different from your 'classique'; Pomerol may be due to the hot vintage.

  • 2008 Latour-Labille / Vincent Latour Meursault Les Meix Chavaux 87 Points

France, Burgundy, Côte de Beaune, Meursault

EK924 CAI -> DBX. Medium golden, nose of pineapple, toasted oak, savoury. Medium dry and high-ish acidity. Vanilla, tropical white fruit, spice, nuts, again savoury. Medium-full body framed in oak, upon the finsih a pleasant acidity lingers, nice but fails to intrigue .
