Brian's wine. WOW, WILL WONDERS NEVER CEASE, I CORRECTLY IDENTIFIED IT AS ST EMILLON OF AN APPROXIMATE AGE. I liked it. I see from Bob R's April note that the group previously had this wine in April at Two CHEF'S.
John's wine. From the overripe 2003 vintage, and this showed it. It was a summer of 100+ days, and nights. At the beginning of August I had to sleep in a poolside lounge chair at the un air conditioned home we were staying at in Vence.
Luis' back up Red, popped and poured. I nursed my glass throughout the remainder of dinner, and it continually evolved to reveal great complexity. IMHO this represents what good/great wine should be all about. My WOTN.
Mark's wine(me). Decanted for 3 hrs in am. The group all seemed to identify it as Cali PN. Pable referred to it as Cotton Candy! I may have overdone the decant. Last time I only gave it 1-1/2 hrs.
Jerry's wine. Vied with Grand Mayne, and the Voge Cornas for WOTN. I thought it perhaps a Pahlmeyer Merlot. Interestingly I previously had this wine in 2007 at a DUO Judgement of Paris dinner featuring the 1996 vintage, because Craig Von Teuber grew wary of the 96's based on James Laubeq's incorrect doubts on the longevity of the vintage.at that dinner it outclassed the Araujo Eisele iN it's flight, and vied with the legendary Heitz 74 Martha's Vineyard for WOTN. There was nothing old about this wine, nor any of Randy Dunn's wines.
1995 Thienot Champagne Cuvée Stanislas Blanc de Blancs Brut 90 Points
