Rather anonymous nose; a bit short, some sweetness, anonymous on taste as well.

Some forest floor, tart, a bit candy and some herbs, elegant.

Most developed, tart and over the hill, still with noticeable tannins, fruit almost gone.

Round and warm, apetizing, decent length, ok acidity, but made in a slightly warmer style than the other, along with 2001.

Wonderful tertiary aromas, mature, a sweet and elegant touch, fresh mushroom, long and intense.

Utterly oxidized, what a shame.

Plums and mushroom, dark berries, concentrated and structured, very long. Still has potential.

Subdued nose with some mint; fruity, underbrush, still fairly tannic, long and elegant.

Menthol and herbs on the nose; intense and very long, still structured, complex.

Lovely balance, long and spicy, an acid nerve that carries the wine, elegant. Alas, fades off in about 20 min.

Ringer in a Rioja tasting. Still plenty of tannins, quite long, subdued. Perhaps not an entirely correct bottle, some detected a hint of TCA. Most thought it was a Rioja.

Mint and underbrush; a little light in the mouth, fresh, but rather short. Still some complexity. Liked it more than others.

Some dried fruit, decent structure, not more.

A hint of sweetness, fresh, OK structure.

Spicy and some complexity, a bit more virile that the other Riojas.

A very good blend of Boal and balsamico.

Violent tannins, a wealth of dark berries, new oak, spicy. Can mature into something very good indeed.

Sweetish fruit, some premox?

Lovely spicy dark fruit, still fairly massive, fine acidy. Alas, my last bottle

Bluish-black, massive fruit, imposing and at one level impressive. However, what should one do with such a wine? The verdict might be different in 10-30 years. All 12 took this blind as Pingus.

Some perfume – in a good way, lots of dark fruit, spicy, dark chocolate; similar in the mouth, some alcohol shining through at the end. Good wine, but a bit too massive for my taste.

Short notes: Still some tannins, not too pleasant, best forgotten

Sweetish, over the hill, poor bottle?

Misery. Not faulty, simply not pleasant.

Ok acidy, plain fruit, fruity. Best forgotten. Not spoiled, simply a very boring wine.

Plums, figs, fresh citrus, almonds; in the mouth it is very refreshing, even some complexity. Will last forever.

Apricots and nuts, botrytis; still fresh in the mouth, moderate sweetness, round, lack a bit on the length, nose was best.

Texture and color is like a PX, prunes, mocca, chocolate, raisin. Very, very long and intense, very sweet (this must be about 300 g/l or more?), extremely powerful. May last centuries? Only made once; 1500 ½ liters.

Irreproachable provenance. Some development in color, but still a youthful touch; knotting varnish, some tobacco, raisin, citrus, intense. Fantastic balance and a surprising lightness. Unfortunately, very drinkable. My first ’75, and much more elegant than I expected.

Darkish brown, lots of flaky sediment; Grapefruit, very ripe grapes, pear soda; similar in the mouth, and it has a unusual creamy mouthfeel, quite low acidity, but very long and intense, complex.

Rather variable qualitywise in which Ribera and to some extent Rioja fared well. Shining whites
