Deep ruby, youthful color. Plum on the nose, slightly stewed. Light to medium bodied with medium acidity. Tart plum, tobacco, fading a bit, but still quite nice.
Mint, eucalyptus nose. Medium to full bodied with medium acidity. Very sweet red fruit, cherry syrup. Nose doesn't match the palate. Not bad but not my style.
(Not sure if this is the right vineyard, just know it was an '80 Sarah's Vineyard Zin.) Reticent nose, some raspberry. Medium bodied with low to medium acidity. Sweet soft raspberry fruit. Nice balance but a bit anonymous.
Blackberry jam and black pepper. Light to medium body with medium+ acidity. Mix of tart and ripe raspberry and blackberry. Great acidity and balance. (my 3rd, group's 2nd)
Whoa, spicy nose, black pepper and baking spice, along with red raspberry. Really nice. Medium to full bodied with medium acidity. Ripe blackberry and plum fruit, some tannins left. Could easily go another ten years. (my 4th, group's 4th)
Pretty red raspberry nose. Medium bodied with medium+ acidity. Mix of tart and ripe raspberry fruit sprinkled with cinnamon. Tasty, great acidity. (my 2nd, group's 1st)
Musty, v.a., spirity, tequila nose. Lots of disagreement over whether this was corked or oxidized, I actually thought it was both. (my 8th, group's 8th)
Bottled circa 1977 according to Ross. Golden raisin and date nose. Medium bodied with low to medium acidity. Viscous, golden raisin, caramel. Interesting!
