The 2004 is a blend of 69% Pinot Noir and 31% Chardonnay from eight grands crus: Aÿ, Bouzy, Ambonnay, Verzy, Verzenay, Avize, Oger and Le Mesnil sur Oger. Elegant, stylish, lovely and rich Pinot depth, combined with the typical freshness I associate with 2004 and floral Chardonnay tones; excellent balance, medium weight; to my mind a very good but not great Grande Dame.
Relatively closed nose, vaguely floral, good depth, with aeration a lovely hint of well-integrated spicy oak appears; lovely balance and style, energetic, elegant, green apple flavours, very pure; outstanding finish, wonderfully subtle and layered, amazing length. Great precision and individuality, tres Lafon, needs more time. Drink 2015 - 2022.

Excellent precision and minerality, open, rich and deep, perfectly integrated oak, wonderful blackcurrant fruit and peppery Cabernet Franc, lovely depth of flavour, good weight, concentration and intensity, elegant, young and energetic, lovely length, wonderful elegant oak on the finish. Excellent Figeac, excellent 2004. Now- 2024.
Very sweet on the nose, deep, honeyed and exotic; rich and concentrated, fleshy, velvety, excellent acidity, tropical fruit flavours, very young and primary at 13 years of age, energetic, excellent length, hint of apple. Delicious, will last.
