Another elbows at dawn tasting...I ran around and tasted all I could which explains the variability of my note taking.
Pretty good tasting. The Domaine A was the stand out producer and, of their wines, the Cab blend was the winner. And I did enjoy that Bream Creek Schonburger...

Lime but fruity and ripe. In the mouth it is peppery and tart, the apple fruit diminishes rapidly leaving a slightly metallic taste on the medium long finish

2009 Bream Creek Schönburger
Australia, Tasmania, Southern Tasmania
Slightly funky lychee, rose and, err, rubber on the nose. In the mouth it is very fruity melon. Though it is dry it tastes like there may be a touch of residual sugar. Creamy texture and a medium long finish. Very nice.

2009 Holm Oak Pinot Noir
Australia, Tasmania, Tamar Valley
Leather and spice over earth and red fruit. Very spicy over leather and slight fruit which gives way to peppery medium minus tannin which carries into a long finish. The lack of fruit is a concern

Slight jammy red fruit compote over spice, especially white pepper. In the mouth it has very chalky and coarse tannin over slight red fruit and a short finish. Oh dear.

2010 Moorilla Pinot Noir Praxis
Australia, Tasmania
Perfume, red fruit, spice, cedar and leather – quite developed nose for such a young wine. In the mouth there is sweet spice over slight light red fruit. Grippy tannin and medium plus acidity – the tannin carries on the long finish. Hmm.

2005 Domaine A Cabernet Sauvignon
Australia, Tasmania, Coal River
Concentrated jam, blackcurrant jelly block, that diminishes to farmyard and wet hay, horse piss, leather and cedar. In the mouth it’s yeast extract over bonfire, oak, slight fruit, hot alcohol, medium plus tannin, medium acid and a long hot finish that also carries sweet spice. Lovely.

1999 Domaine A Cabernet Sauvignon
Australia, Tasmania, Coal River
Slightly less concentrated jammy black fruit, farmyard, wet hay, sweaty horse, leather, cedar but also a savoury meatiness to the nose. In the mouth there is black fruit, warm alcohol, medium plus tannin, medium plus acid and a long warm finish that is balanced by the fruit and some sweet spice. Glorious.
