  • 2007 Chartogne-Taillet Champagne Les Barres 92 Points

    France, Champagne

The 60 years old vines of -Les Barres- are ungrafted and untouched by phylloxera. Fresh, floral nose, a touch of pear and some toast. On the palate, elegant and medium bodied and bright fruit flavors. Lovely freshness and a long mineral finish. A delicious Pinot Meunier Champagne!

  • 2010 Vincent Dauvissat (René & Vincent) Chablis Grand Cru Les Clos 94 Points

France, Burgundy, Chablis, Chablis Grand Cru

Decanted and poured. Very complex and pure nose of green apple, lemon and citrus. On the palate the wine is full-bodied, pure and very primary, with brisk acids and chalky minerality. Laser-like focus and a perfectly balanced and stunning finish! I look forward to drinking it again a decade or so down the road. A brilliant wine! (94-97).

  • 2007 Domaine Michel Juillot Corton-Charlemagne 89 Points

France, Burgundy, Côte de Beaune, Corton-Charlemagne Grand Cru

Slightly overripe fruit aromas. On the palate some richness and power, but lacked acid backbone and minerality of a Corton. Reasonably mature and showing obvious advanced signs.

  • 2010 Emmanuel Rouget Vosne-Romanée 91 Points

France, Burgundy, Côte de Nuits, Vosne-Romanée

The nose is deep, pure and complex with red and black cherries and soil tones. On the palate the wine is deep, full-bodied and very pure, great expression of its underlying terroir with a very long and refined finish. High class Vosne-Village here!

  • 2009 Domaine Fourrier Gevrey-Chambertin Vieille Vigne

France, Burgundy, Côte de Nuits, Gevrey-Chambertin

This Vieilles Vignes bottling comes from the border with Brochon. This bottle is sourced from somewhere else and not as good as the 2009 Gevrey v.v. bottling we’ve had before. In any case, on the nose a strange brew of dark berries and dark soil tones. On the palate the wine is medium-full, with an abundance of dry tannins adding astringency to the finish. Bottle Variation – what’s the Story?!
