Flight 1 (1 Note)

  • NV Laurent-Perrier Champagne Grand Siècle Brut 93 Points

    France, Champagne

    Alcohol :: 12%
    Light golden. Enticing bouquet started with white and roasted nut intermixed with white bread, bright citrus lime and fresh herbs. Medium bodied, I feel this has high dosage but it is so well integrated that shows excellent harmony and focus. This is amazingly well delineated, layer of bright white and green fruits, so lively and pure. Above all that, the overall depth, complexity and super. It just getting better and better in the glass. Very long and intense, yet embraced with finesse and elegance.

Flight 2 (2 Notes)

  • 1983 Château Malescot St. Exupéry 86 Points

    France, Bordeaux, Médoc, Margaux

    Alcohol :: NA
    Open for 60mins. Bright brick red. Earth, damp earth, roasted herbs, red cherry and raspberry. Complex, high tone and seductive. However, the palate is not a good. A bit loose in structure and lacks of fruits. The tannin starting to take place with sweet fruits being cover underneath. I would say drink now rather than later when the fruits are still exist. After all, wine is made by grape and what's the point to drink a win without any fruits left in it?

  • 1983 Château Léoville Poyferré 91 Points

    France, Bordeaux, Médoc, St. Julien

    Alcohol ::
    Pristine condition. Very dark garnet core with light rim. The bouquet is utterly intriguing: sweet herbs, tobacco, spices and sweet black currant note. What is most important is the freshness it able to offer. Silky smooth mouth feel with layers of secondary complexity. It has just enough fruits to support today. Make it very delicious to drink. I especially like the freshness and focus in this wine. While I don't think it would improve even more. It will certainly stay at its peak for at least another 3-5years.

Flight 3 (1 Note)

  • 1983 Paul Jaboulet Aîné Hermitage La Chapelle

    France, Rhône, Northern Rhône, Hermitage

    Alcohol :: NA
    Dark brick core with brown rim. Dark chocolate, scotched earth, sweet plum and there is one heavy note at the background which I don't really know how to describe. High acid entry that leads to a mild density and almost fully secondary complexity. Overall the palate is a bit lean, and volatile. Bottle variation?

Flight 4 (1 Note)

  • 1987 Chateau Musar 91 Points

    Lebanon, Bekaa Valley

    Dark brownish, light rim. Burn caramel, roasted herbs, blackberry and earth. There is a little bit of spices waving around the bouquet. Still pretty intense and focus. The palate has a bit of rustic edge, but it is not at all distracting instead, giving a great personality and soul. Silky tannin, great grip and long, intense juicy finish. Very good.
