My home

What a great way to celebrate one's birthday with a sample of some of the better chardonnay regions, accompanied by a menu based on my wife's home cured salmon, grilled swedish zander and char. The 2004 moncuit blanc de blanc, Ian's reserve and the 2007 Meursault perrieres and the pattes loup all shone, while the 2009 white burgundies were so so

Very fine and open and with mature fruit and medium fine mousse and clean chardonnay nose.

2010 Domaine Pattes Loup Chablis Vent d'Ange 91 Points
France, Burgundy, Chablis
Agree with FVs note. We had this in a flight of nice chardonnays, and this could easily have been mistaken for the oregon chard with its ripe fruit, or the puligny-montrachet and meursault with its richer body and elegant raciness.

agree with previous CT notes - ripe fruit and great freshness with a mineral streak.

2009 Philippe Chavy Saint-Aubin 1er Cru Les Murgers des Dents de Chien Blanc 86 Points
France, Burgundy, Côte de Beaune, Saint-Aubin 1er Cru
This time, this had a little more umpff and several guests thought this was very fine. I still think it's a tad green on the edges, but the energy was there and the wine was elegant and long and in one place, if that makes sense?

2009 Philippe Chavy Puligny-Montrachet 88 Points
France, Burgundy, Côte de Beaune, Puligny-Montrachet
Has energy and a very clean, pure chardonnay taste. More freshness than I would have thought, and fruit is somewhat restrained in fact.

2007 Domaine de L'Arlot Nuits St. Georges Cuvée La Gerbotte 86 Points
France, Burgundy, Côte de Nuits, Nuits St. Georges
This has style and flesh on the body while still being lean and lemony. some of the tropical notes have receded. Very good and clean and simple (in a good way). Has not really gained in complexity.

2007 Yves Boyer-Martenot Meursault 1er Cru Les Perrières 95 Points
France, Burgundy, Côte de Beaune, Meursault 1er Cru
Excellent. Great nose, with all sorts of interesting mature tones, has a lot of soul and ambergris. Went fantastically well with some old comté, gruyère, piave and talleggio.
