Unusual, and the cepage certainly stands out at this stage. Apples and pears on nose and palate, but really brutally young and direct at the moment. Wait a few years for the next bottle, but I'm optimistic and it certainly has terrific ageing potential.
France, Burgundy, Côte de Beaune, Puligny-Montrachet 1er Cru
Super. Still very youthful, nutty, persistent, bright and good, balanced, acidity. 1st bottle for a couple of years and really coming along very nicely.
France, Burgundy, Côte de Beaune, Montrachet Grand Cru
This is very serious wine - incredibly rich, full but enormously subtle too. All the classic white burgundy traits in an incredibly round, integrated package. Mature but no signs of tiredness at all. This bottle beautiful, but one opened before completely oxidized.
Italy, Tuscany, Montalcino, Brunello di Montalcino
The other side of life from the 2 very old Chiantis drunk at the same time. Just magnificently good wine making, and everything in place, but worth holding if you can. It ought to be traditional Sangiovese at its absolute pinnacle in 10 years or so.
Brown, almost black colour. Caramel, heading towards the brûlée, but with a bit of acid still there too. A hot year wine for sure, and probably a bit old, even given the sugar.
Italy, Tuscany, Chianti, Vin Santo del Chianti Classico
Pure raisin juice, in the best way. Basically the highest class version of rum and raisin ice cream you will find in a bottle. But honestly not in a vulgar way...
