Introduction

Chidaine offers tremendous value in the Loire. We tasted through a portion of his range. It was interesting to compare vintages and the Vouvray vs. Moutlouis wines. Looking forward to enjoying these wines both in the short term many years in the future.

  • 2010 François Chidaine Montlouis-sur-Loire Les Bournais

Solid. Lemony citrus, mild acidity with enough acidity to really carry this. While in comparison to the Pied, it was second best, this is a real solid value and definitely one to seek out. Should age gracefully as well.

  • 2010 François Chidaine Montlouis-sur-Loire Franc de Pied Les Bournais

    France, Loire Valley, Touraine, Montlouis-sur-Loire

Lemon peel, citrus, brown sugar and really good depth and concentration balanced by the acidity. This is a real star wine. However, the topic of conversation was whether it is worth the over 2x tariff of the "regular" bottling of the Bournais. As a first time purchaser of Chidaine, I could not justify the Pied bottling but I may consider it down the road.
