Bottles from my cellar (all cases disgorged Dec 2011). I'm normally aligned with Gillman, but disagree with him here - and I'm known for not liking Rose champagne. This is a great value rose for drinking with or without food. Low acidity. Drunk with selection of Thai snacks. Deep core of cherry, rasberry and orange (though can see where Krugman's rhubarb notes come in), with a chalky finish, this is a dark-coloured rose packed and stacked with fruit that really needs a few years in the bottle to age. These bottles are starting to come around. Some people preferred this to all other wines tonight.

This rating will seem extreme, but the wine really is this good! From cellar case, double-decanted for 3hrs before serving. Elderflower on the nose and a taught lime entry with sharp acidic finish, but the excellence here is characterised by the extreme bredth and length of flavour. This really is muscular riesling. Glorious with the grilled chim-churi prawns. Staggering QPR and the wine is still young.
I have rated this more before, but this bottle was only slow-oxed for2hrs. Far better with extended decant when complexity improves to include Hawaiian Tropic (coconut, oil), citrus and a wonderful saline feature. Here it was a mouth coating, but simple sweet juice that frankly bored me after a sip. Left for others to finish.
Consistent with my previous notes. 2hr decant, but served in smaller glasses (I usually prefer Riedel Sommelier Burgundy glasses to enhance aromatics). Always enjoy this wine, but it now feels to be at peak maturity. 2007 remains my favourite vintage, but the 2004 is still big (with air) and has a refreshing tart finish and acidity to its expected sweet entry that makes it an especially good match with savoury fare. Tonight this was enjoyed with Ceylon pork collar butt curry. A fairly good match, but I think better with more coconut usually.
Bit disappointing really. Quite dark already, good initial pineapple and apricot taste, but then little complexity, breadth or finish. Will improve over next 5yrs but will always be fairly 'average'. Actually quote a dry/savoury finish for such a sweet entry. Unsatisfying. The homemade mango sticky rice served with it was of far higher quality.
Halve bottle opened after desert and served with chocolate macadamia nuts. Not cold enough, and disappointing based on my experience from this case. Subsequently improved considerably with air with biscuity richness that I look for in Krug. Not as good as my recent experiences of this wine.
