Flight 1 (5 Notes)

  • 2011 Domaine Huet Vouvray Sec Clos du Bourg 88 Points

    France, Loire Valley, Touraine, Vouvray

Apple, chalkiness, honey, citrus, pine-apple. Typical vouvray, but kind of restained, not as intense as in other vintages. Okay structure and density without any particular depth. Medium-plus finish.

  • 2011 Georg Mosbacher Forster Ungeheuer Riesling Großes Gewächs 90 Points

    Germany, Pfalz

Citrus, apple, pine-apple, crushed chalky mineraliy, some garden spices, like dill. Medium body. Very good savour intensity on the attack, good fruit, good density. Steel-hard acidity, medium-plus finish. 89-90

  • 2011 Tement Sauvignon Blanc Grosse Lage STK Ried Zieregg 93 Points

    Austria, Styria, Südsteiermark

Really deep nose, ripe tropical fruits, wild muggy-vegetal notes, minerals, fine smoky oakiness. Typical, but promises so much intensity and power. Full body. Beatiful depth on the palate, exploding intensity on the attack. Dense structure, fine creaminess, perfect balance, long finish. Great wine, a step above the previous vintages I have tasted. 93-94

  • 2011 Prager Riesling Smaragd Klaus 93 Points

    Austria, Niederösterreich, Wachau

Similar as usual. Clean, ripe, typical riesling aromatics. Probably not that intense (but still very impressive) attack as the previous one, but for the second half of the sip it makes a more focussed finish with extreme good length. 93-94

  • 2011 István Balassa Furmint Tokaji Mézes Maly 90 Points

    Hungary, Tokaji

Overripe yellow fruits, honey, sweet spices, quite obvious oak. Full body. Intense savours, creaminess, oak again. Good density, length, has enough acidity to balance the richness and the alcohol. Impressive stuff, but the previous 2 wines shows much more class. (better balance, denser, more focussed structures, more expressiveness without the need of excessive oak)
