Spice and graphite with orange peel and musky aromatics - quite interesting. Tasty with a decent lick of residual sugar. Oily mouthfeel and good length.
Probably 2-3 years bottle age (pre dates Krug ID). Peach ad pear, with some nutty and complex earth aromas. Lovely vibrant fruit on the palate plus excellent acidity and long carry. Drinking beautifully.
France, Burgundy, Côte de Beaune, Corton-Charlemagne Grand Cru
Lanolin and spice with slate, a light sesame note and lemon curd. Drinking really nicely - lovely fruit that is starting to take on complexity. Delicate but with depth to it.
Australia, Victoria, Port Phillip, Mornington Peninsula
Served blind. Plenty happening on the nose and palate. Iron, meat, violets, bright raspberry and a little touch of funk. With more time in the glass it grows aromatically with intense cherry and more of that interesting earthy/funky note. A taut, high acid style playing against bright red fruits. Follows through really nicely. I really quite like it, but does it have the potential to be a brilliant wine? I'm not sure yet.
France, Burgundy, Côte de Nuits, Charmes-Chambertin Grand Cru
Entrancing nose - earth, truffle, floral perfume, cherry and raspberry. Ethereal and lithe, quite hard to pin down and it required real focus to tease out its beauty and detail - not entirely what I was expecting but it was oh so brilliantly balanced. Beautiful wine to the very last drop.
Italy, Tuscany, Montalcino, Brunello di Montalcino
Double decanted for about 8 hours. Cherry, autumn leaves, licorice, iron and roses - earthy and cinnamon aromas too, this is really complex. Lovely black fruit palate with plenty of depth and acidity. Long and really lovely - superb!
Super aromatics - bacon and smoky charcoal, graphite and a real dark perfumed lift. Palate is slightly brooding in style, though it has a silky mouthfeel with some lovely spice to it as well. Needs time obviously but also obviously a very fine wine.
Blackcurrant and plum, with graphite, stalk, earth as well as cherry and blueberry - a melange of powerful fruits here. Rich and with a feeling of density, there is nevertheless excellent restraint and the balance is nigh on perfect for me. There is complexity to it already which is amazing considering the potential to evolve alongside the brilliant tannic frame. The more I tasted it, the more I liked it and I hope to get to try it again in the distant future.
Australia, South Australia, Fleurieu, McLaren Vale
Blueberry, cassis, dark chocolate and raspberry. Rich and quite sweetly fruit driven, there is opulence here but it has immense freshness and lift that pervades throughout the palate. Bold and viscous, it is really impressive how it manages to not feel entirely over the top!
Apricot and mandarin, with honey and cinnamon following on the nose. Pure, delicate and clean with excellent acidity and a mineral core that extends and lifts the fruit, there is sweetness but not as evident as I may have expected.

Porty, with chocolate and floral notes, but VA got worse with time. Palate disjointed. :(
