Dark core with garnet rim; red currant, dark cherry, cedar, vanilla, a little crème brulée; medium plus body, chunky tannin, tart berry, some heat, spicy, jalapeno; ripe though more classically styled.
Faintly corked but not enough to kill it; similar to the '06 but obviously more youthful, purple fruit profile, and more seamless texture; thought this was very good even though the TCA detracted from it ever so slightly.
Dark dull garnet with light reddish purple rim; nose was ripe exotic fruit on the nose, red and dark fruit, leather, very deep, spice, a hint of dill and vanilla on the aftertaste that was really well integrated; fresh on the palate, ripe, good structure, good acid; took some air to really come alive but this was delicious.
Very light color, crimson core with pale rim, watery, almost looks like an older CdP; an extremely faint nose at first, cranberry, tart strawberry, rustic, cherry; palate is richer with similar fruit to the nose, tastes aged, a hint of candy cane, cherry, good acid; coaxed some personality out with air but the wine seemed a little tired at that point, really reminded us of '01 Monprivato due to its watery body and light red fruit flavors; still waiting on a bottle like the one Alan Meadows gets.
Translucent red crimson with orange rim; chestnut, ripe red fruit, orange, fat and rich, Italian nose; ripe and rich on the palate, good cherry and orange, viscous, long finish, great acid, very balanced; called Quintarelli Valpo like I usually do, duh.
Translucent, light plum with pink rim; watermelon, light fruit, ripe, tart cherry, a bit of candy, juicy; good oak vanillin, plump, good fruit up front with nice white rocky minerality underneath, fat modern feel; good but I prefer Burgs with more focus.
Italy, Tuscany, Montalcino, Brunello di Montalcino
Crimson almost to the rim, pinkish rim; cherry pit, a bit of candy-like fruitiness from the youthfulness, tightened up with some air; tart, cranberry, cherry; delicious; many were fooled by the freshness and fruitiness of this Burgundian styled BdM; looking forward to the next bottle in a few years where the rating should be higher.
Light straw yellow; beautiful nose of lemon water, almond and pear; lighter bodied and simple but really well done, salty note really came alive with the tuna crudo.
France, Burgundy, Côte de Nuits, Clos Vougeot Grand Cru
Darker dull ruby; larger scaled nose almost dominated by the large dollop of sweet French oak, darker fruit, sour dark cherry; plush and deep, powerful; no defined lines in this yet but you can get an idea of the wonderful potential.
