This was the first time I'd tasted anything other than the village wine.
Overall, a pretty run of the mill range of Chablis. Variable amounts of wood, understated fruit, and seemingly a preference for elegance rather than power.
2012 Caves Duplessis Chablis
France, Burgundy, Chablis
Light color and weight. Good salt breeze aromatics. Clean, fresh, adequate acidity. Good quality village wine.

2010 Caves Duplessis Chablis 1er Cru Vaillons
France, Burgundy, Chablis, Chablis 1er Cru
Pale with greenish hue. Salty, oyster shell nose. Light to medium weight with gentle oak. Classic palate-saline, snappy, light lemony fruit. I liked this one more than just about any of the other wines. Not the most intense or concentrated Vaillons, but very pretty.

2009 Caves Duplessis Chablis 1er Cru Fourchaume
France, Burgundy, Chablis, Chablis 1er Cru
Pale color. Slightly floral nose. Richer and creamier than the 2010 Vaillons, but then again, the wood is much more obvious and intrusive. Subdued fruit, less crisp than that wine but good salinity on the finish and reasonable length.

2009 Caves Duplessis Chablis 1er Cru Montmains
France, Burgundy, Chablis, Chablis 1er Cru
Light yellow. Riper citrus aromatics than any of the wines to this point. Nice light feel with just a touch of oak, brothy flavors with bitter orange. Average acidity and falls off on the finish. I preferred both the Fourchaume and the Montee de Tonnerre to this.

2009 Caves Duplessis Chablis 1er Cru Montée de Tonnerre
France, Burgundy, Chablis, Chablis 1er Cru
Light yellow. Classic Chablis aromatics, quite fragrant in fact. Almost creamy feel which reminded me of the texture of Raveneaus. Much better salinity and acidity than the Montmains, but significant wood at the end. Good but not a showstopper Montee de Tonnerre.

2007 Caves Duplessis Chablis 1er Cru Montmains
France, Burgundy, Chablis, Chablis 1er Cru
Pale, green tint. Piquant lemon peel nose. Light weight with a thin veneer of wood to give it some additional texture. Pure Chablis flavors with downplayed orange rind flavors. Very discrete wood. Long, crisp finish that is full of stone dust. Maybe not as deep as the 2010 Vaillons but a lovely, delicate wine in its drinking window.

2009 Caves Duplessis Chablis Grand Cru Les Clos
France, Burgundy, Chablis, Chablis Grand Cru
Medium yellow. A richer, more buttery nose than any of the other wines in the series. Rich, woody base with deep, low pitched citrus that gives some bitterness on the finish. Textural and musky although not terribly detailed. Late beeswax. Well, the good news is that it is the rare affordable wine from Les Clos, but it offers little of the intricacy or complexity that this great site can achieve.
